Chase Freedom Raised Numbers

I wish Chase would update the Freedom and Freedom Unlimited card designs to not included raised numbers on the front. It's 2020 -- put them on the back already.

I worked for Avis from 2006-2015 at an airport and never once made an imprint.

I have emails from early 2017 with the old design, and emails from early 2018 with the new design.

I am pretty sure both the CF and CFU cards had their designs updated in 2019. Seems odd that they wouldn't put the numbers on the back.

I'm not here to burst your bubble. The raised numbers weren't just meant for imprints, but for blind consumers like myself. The numbers on back have made me memorize each 12 cards down to exp. date and CVV code.

Of my 17 cards, 7 are flat. I think 4 come as flat-only: Costco, BofA Premium, QS, and DC. Not sure if there are raised-letter variants of BCP or Marriott Brilliant. I assume the plastic raised-letter Schwab Platinum is still available.

I have 15 total. Three are SD, so no need to memorize. I don't trust saving with auto fill on iPhone. So the need to memorize.

I'm sure the largest bank in the United States would be able to provide a card with raised letters for people who requested them for disability reasons while the general population was given the flat cards.

@blindambition Very good point. Something I'm sure many of us hadn't thought about and probably not the CC companies either. I now would suggest the argument with CC companies should be to provide both, customer's choice.

If a few more of my cards go flat, they won't comfortably fill my wallet and I might have them slip out!

The wallet is old, though...likely time to replace it.

I miss raised number cards.

Only my NFCU debit card has them and I received a notice recently that a replacement was coming for it soon. I'll probably be fully flat when it does..

Nothing odd, really. It's something that may be on the horizon as they refresh their designs. Plus, there are still plenty of Chase CCs in circulation with the raised embossing. Southwest and Disney come to mind, for instance.
