I NEED A JOB!!

I am a stay at home mom with 3 kids and a DH that has been working so hard to get debts paid down. Does anyone know of a legit stay at home job that I could look into?? Your help is greatly appreciated!!

My sis-in-law did in-home daycare for years - don't know how many kids she looked after besides her own 3 every day, but that seems to be a popular way for stay-at-home moms to earn extra $$$'s.

For legit working from home, if you have a phone line & solid computer system, another poster has referred

teletech.com -- they're not currently hiring for @home, but may start soon.

cloud10 -- also work-at-home, they are hiring, but not in CA (my state )

alpineaccess.com -- are currently hiring, they have shifts available.

These all pay by the hour, doing data entry/CSR type stuff.

I have been doing home daycare for 7 years. The money can be really good, but it is so up and down with clients and all.

Much less so than it used to be. This profession is being offshored at the speed of light. Overseas transcription services have MD's doing transcription now, and very cheaply, and now voice-recognition software is also coming on. Hospitals and many physicians are so bottom-line oriented that they won't pay for proper editing and quality control, and they aren't seeing how dangerous a position they're putting themselves in.

But I agree that physician billing can be a good work-at-home field. Just avoid anyone who wants to you put money up front, or insists that you buy your equipment from them. And be sure to get a good understanding of both diagnostic and procedural coding, or you'll find yourself quickly buried in rejected claims.

Just a quick, OT rant:

I mentioned in another thread that I'm an office manager in a chiropractic office (my boss is one of the good ones!), and I am literally drowning in rejected claims! It just drives me insane that these insurance companies refuse to process claims correctly!

One, a local union, has changed the billed amounts on the dates of service TWICE!

For example: 05/05/08 $50.00

05/07/08 $50.00

And they keep processing them as:

05/05/08 $100.00

05/07/08 $ 0.00

So, obviously, everything is just all wrong when it gets sent back. I'm going to try and have it fixed again tomorrow. So wish me luck!

I'm lucky, in that as a coder, I am somewhat insulated from insurance company craziness. I have a great biller who probably does some magic before she sends things on (I don't want to know; I code things by coding guidelines, which insurance companies are cheerfully ignorant about.) But I had a single encounter from last November that kicked back because Cigna didn't like the dx code for a head CT. This same code has been just fine for every other carrier, but not them. I tore the report apart and found another one, and we'll see if they'll go with that one.

But payers, including Medicare, are nuts.

fused, you'll never know how close you come to getting e-mails from me with a coding question about anterior cervical diskectomies with segmented instrumentation. Aarrgh! Spinal surgery is just about the only area of coding where my eyes cross. Everything else I code and love, other than babies. VA doesn't do babies!

You could try online insurance companies such as insurance.com. They have reps that work from home to quote auto,health & life insurance policies. My auto insurance Rep was telling me that she works from home and most everyone in her family also worked from home and she loved it. Good Luck finding something!

How about before/after school daycare for older children? It's a bit easier as you would have the school time for yourself.

I shop garage sales & estate sales for eBay. Unfortunately eBay is becoming soooo expensive.

If you're willing, you can also make some good money by offering to keep sick children during the day, especially teachers' children. Obviously, you don't want one who's horribly acutely ill and going to infect your whole house, but there are always kids who are slowly getting over a bug, no longer violently ill, but not yet ready to return to school.

A "sick bay" program where they have a couch and pillow and blanket, Kleenex and clear liquids and parent-supplied meds, and a TV to watch between dozing, can be a Godsend for working parents. With three kids of your own, you probably know by now how to handle things to minimize passing the germs on!

summer camp: the kids would be older, and easier to deal with , have the payment in advance and you can schedule different activities. if you have a pool it easier. and make sure you have insurance to cover it.

I just did my flyer for summer camp and if you would like I can email you a copy of it so you can see what I did and make changes to it as you need to .... I also offer transportation services and pickup and dropoff for $50. If you have a vehicle and there is a YMCA or Park District or PTA meeting that you can go to and offer your services you could make some money that way taking kids to their after school activities for their parents. With the way our economy is, if you can get overtime, anytime, it is good to have someone in place to step in when we are running late.

Make sure to charge a flat rate for the services. If it is just one way - $25 week, regardless of the number of days that week you actually picked up or $25 for dropoff, same applies. Or, you can charge a daily rate of $5 dollars plus .36 cents per mile.

Let me know and I can email it to you. Oh, I just talked with the local headstart in my community and they are on the same school schedule as the elementary and high schools, so they will be closed for the summer and the parents need care for the summer. Check into the headstart program. If they are closed for the summer, ask if you can put some flyers and business cards out in the office for parents who need summer care.
