How active do I need to be in order to become a member? I am currently a "new visitor" and would like to be able to add a signature to my posts.

Typically, you rank up with the # of posts. If you search, there is a thread on how many one needs to rank up. There is no hardfast stepstone system as this ranking system is not public....
