Here is my story, facts only:

I went to Mavis tire here in Gainesville Florida with a Front driver side flat tire. I also had a slow leak on the rear passenger tire. I said to the gentleman at the desk that I know I need a new front driver side tire so please make it inexpensive and check the rear passenger tire because it has a slow leak. After two hours of waiting, he came back to me and said that I needed a rear passenger tire because there was a nail in the sidewall. I spent $250 on two tires. When they said the work was done I went around to the garage and talk to the tire boy. I said please show me the nail in the rear passenger tire. He looked completely confused and said to me, "what nail?" I told him that Christian up at the front desk told me that you all had to replace the tire (pointing at the car) and I had to buy one because of a nail in the sidewall. The tire boy said to me there was no nail in the tire and that is not the tire they replaced. He said he replace the front passenger side tire because he was told that the tread was low. So now that I've completely confused everyone, what happened was I paid for two brand new tires one for the front driver side and one for the front passenger side.

Now comes the good part. When he could not show me the nail or proof or reason why I needed to buy an additional tire guy asked for the manager. In a nutshell, Christian at the front desk was caught deceiving me and trying to sell me something I didn't need. The manager offered me four new cheaply made tires at the price of the $250 I paid instead of refunding me.

When I left with four brand new tires happy as a clam, and spending $250, my vehicle immediately started bouncing down the road. I then went to tires plus that day. They looked at the tires took the wheels off took the tires off called me into the garage to show me that three of the four tires that I was just given at Mavis tire were separating from the tread, in other words, they were defective.

Now the bank part........

I had tires plus write down exactly what was wrong with each one of the tires. The unfortunate part about the whole thing was that I had to start from scratch and buy four brand new good quality tires spending over $680 at tires plus. Keep in mind that I had already spent 250.

I took the seven pieces of paper from tires plus and called NFCU to dispute the $250 charge with full explanation just as I'm telling you here and with all the paperwork from another mechanic shop with it stating on the paperwork that these tires are dangerous and must be replaced immediately.

In the end, navy federal did not stand behind its member, they sided with Mavis tire. I'm probably one of the few people who gave them so much proof that they sold me defective tires. Today, I not only closed my checking account and shares account but I also closed my credit card with them. They will never get my business again, and I will never trust them with my money.

IMHO - I don't think you have much business with Navy Credit.

becuase you paid for the service

You should have called the Mavis tire and threaten to sue them to small claim court if they don't refund you.

preferably call the Mavis tire headquarters and show them the proof and threaten them with a legal action

What kind of timeline from original service, problem with the tires to new tires and dispute are we talking about.

Your original story makes it sound like this all happened in a matter of hours. Your follow up makes it sound longer.

I suspect more for the story. But, anyhow, what did NFCU determine in your dispute?

So I am confused, the way you wrote this, it sounds like the SAME day that you got four brand new tires at Mavis for $250.00, they were immediately defective? So you went to Tires Plus that SAME day and were told as much?

From Mavis's website regarding refunds:

"And rest assured, all tires sold by Mavis come with a full manufacturer's warranty, plus this no-hassle Mavis Return policy: We will gladly accept the return or exchange of original-condition, uninstalled tires purchased from MavisTire.Com (excl. special order items) within thirty days of purchase. No questions asked."

If there was a problem with the TIRE, you would need to take them back to Mavis Tire immediately and have them refund you or tell you how to get a WARRANTY repair from the tire manufacturer. Did you go back to Mavis Tire regarding the issue? Or were you so angry with them that you thought you would just dispute it?

Here is the thing, NFCU has to follow VISA/mastercard/Amex chargeback rules. If you signed a credit slip and you RECEIVED four new tires, what is there to dispute? That is how VISA/mastercard/Amex will see it. The receipt was signed, and four new tires were placed onto the car and the tires were NOT returned to Mavis. And it does not sound (by what you wrote) that you gave Mavis a chance to correct the issue by giving you a "no questions asked" refund as it was within 30 days.

VISA/mastercard/Amex/Discover can only do so much in the dispute process. Your anger is misplaced at NFCU and instead, this would be a SMALL CLAIMS court case.

I'm sorry, let me state the timeline:

11/6/2020 drove to Mavis with a spare on. 4pm: 4 tires replaced for $250.

Same day test drive - car was bouncing. Drove back to Mavis to report it and they said they needed to be re-balanced. Waited 2 more hrs for that. Drove off and still had bounce issue. I had to go to work so I called, reported it and they said come back tomorrow.

11/7/2020 Drove back to Mavis to get the bouncing issue resolved a second time. They said "the lead weights had come off", so they re-balanced. Test drive and still had same issue. Drove back to Mavis a bit upset and told the mgr that someone needs to test drive my car right now and they refused. Immediately went home and called their CSR line. Reported it.

11/8/2020 Bouncing was so bad, I went to Tires plus for a second opinion. I did not tell them anything about Mavis. I asked them to inspect my tires. Tires Plus looked and said they were all defective. I drove home to get myself together. I called NFCU to get some advice. They told me to get Tire Plus's info in writing. I did.

The issue is, you sort of jumped the gun a bit. Disputes are not a replacement for dealing with a company that provided you with bad service. Your effort should have been dealing with Mavis.

Again, your story is misjointed, but I don't see anywhere in the timeline you spoke with upper management to resolve your issue. In fact, you timeline doesn't even allow for it so I doubt it was a simple omission.
