Photography! I've done it professionally here and there, but just don't have the time anymore. I shoot pics of my kiddos and whatever else I feel like clicking my shutter release at these days. No pressure to get the editing done on time for anyone anymore. I enjoy it very much!

Concerts/music festivals are big for me. I usually go to a bunch of shows every year, until covid hit.

I'm a tech junkie. It takes a lot of self control to not blow money on all the things I want. Like I have a 12 Pro Max right now and really want a Pixel but only so I can play with Android 12. I buy game consoles even though I really don't play them a lot because of my anxiety. Every year I have to talk myself out of buying a new TV - it's a fight I have with myself at least twice a year (when they are released and again around Black Friday). I built my first computer when I was 12 and I usually end up being tech support for friends and family. Love tinkering with OSes. I used to go on Distrowatch and download a new linux distribution at least once a week and I spent the better part of 3 months with the OS X Tiger Intel developer image that leaked figuring out how to get it to boot and install natively instead of having to use it in VMware or dd the VMware image to a hard drive partition. I also dabbled in ROM development for Windows Mobile 5 and early versions of Android.

Before my panic attacks got really bad I used to be big into music. Rock, alternative, metal, electronica (trance, hard dance, breaks, techno, liquid DnB, psytrance, goa, IDM, psychill - pretty much the only things I didn't like were happy hardcore and anything else that was over 170 BPM)... I was a bit of a DJ (trance, hard trance, hardstyle, breaks, and right before I sold my tables I made my first DnB mix) and I used to always love driving my car up to the mountains to enjoy the drive while blasting music. I also used to go to a lot of raves and parties.

Photography has always been an interest of mine but with my tech junkie mentality it would be a huge money sink so I have stayed away from really diving into it. The most expensive cameras I have bought are the Canon PowerShot G series (I have a G16 currently and my first one was the G9) because they were a good middle ground between point and shoot and DSLRs. Now I'm happy to just take shots with my phone.

I enjoy anime as well. I don't watch it as much as I used to because my eyes bother me when I'm reading subtitles and I can't stand dubs but I'm getting new glasses next month and I'm hoping that will bring back some anime binges. I just realized that Sailor Moon Eternal is available on Netflix so I'm going to watch that tomorrow.

LOL, I don't consider credit cards a hobby of mine, just a means to an end, which often means travel.

My other hobbies are taking care of a bunch of horses, running (being a fat old man still capable of running a 5K in the low 20-minute range and half-marathons in the 1:40 range, it is a lot of fun seeing younger and fitter looking folks try and bend their brains around having just been beaten by an old grey beard), writing, and, since the advent of working from home due to the COVID thing, baking sourdough bread. I managed to find a sourdough culture which claims to have an unbroken lineage harkening back to the 1849 gold rush, and while I have no way of proving that, I will say it is a most hardy and sour culture which makes wonderful tasting bread.

Crochet, sewing, autobody, build and refurbish furniture(still have all 10 fingers and both eyes), gardening/landscaping---> (esp. with a cold drink on my zero turn ...this one could be a daily hobby?) and these are maybe hobbies or just JOYS I partake in on a regular.. camping & boating (esp. with a cold drink ...theme?) Geneology is in the mix too....found and made some great online/phone/email friendships and esp. enjoy helping adopted relatives in their search for answers. (come to find out, I'm not a Peach, I'm a hybrid )

Not enough time in the day, not enough days in the week but those are my hobbies that I do on a regular come hell or high water.

Crocheting, scrapbooking, reading, and card making are just a few of my hobbies...got so many WIPs (works in progress), some of which I've been working on for three-plus years. Need to focus on completing one project at a time, and stop starting new ones.

Before I got sick, I had many hobbies, interests, pastimes that I really enjoyed. A favorite was to combine two of them, i.e., photography + something else I like, such as gardening or going to the beach or mountains. I'm blessed to have peafowl roaming my neighborhood and yard, and I used to spend a lot of time, using various lenses on my Nikon cameras, taking pictures of them. One peacock in particular would pose for me and eat out of my hand! I love growing unusual, beautiful flowers and have thousands of photos to prove it.

An old love of mine, ballet, I haven't actually done in eons, but I still enjoy watching it and keeping up on the ballet world. Before illness entered my life, I practically LIVED at the ballet studio, dancing until my 9th month of pregnancy; my daughter grew up there, watching Mommy take class, and starting classes herself when she was three. We're both huge balletomanes to this day, and she still takes class every once in a while. Neither of us has been en pointe for a long time now! But we treasure our old pointe shoes and memories.

My biggest passion since the 1980s has been animal rights/welfare. I'm very involved, albeit only financially now, in that world. I've been rescuing/adopting pets for as long as I can remember; as I type this, my favorite cat is happily sleeping on my leg (I'm on my bed). She'll be 17 soon, and I've had her since she was about 5 weeks old!

I loved doing volunteer work, and did a lot of it until health issues made that impossible. I'm happy to say that our daughter grew up seeing and participating in volunteerism, such as delivering meals to shut-ins, and has passed on to her children the philosophy that it's our duty to help those who are less fortunate. She and her husband and kids have done things, like volunteering at soup kitchens, that made me feel really good and proud.

I like to think of myself as artistic...but I suck at doing anything like drawing/painting! Oh well. Crocheting is a very relaxing, calming hobby that I've loved for decades. I like playing games, both real world and virtual. Oh! I'm a total tech geek!!

My career was as a UNIX and Linux programmer and system administrator. I've used *nix exclusively since the mid-1980s, first UNIX, then an early UNIX clone, then Linux. There are no windows in my house...yet somehow there's so much light! All of my computers, both desktop and laptop, run Linux, as do all of my DVRs, routers, modems, smart devices and, as its offspring, Android, all of my mobile devices. I love playing immersive games on a nice big laptop!

@SoCalGardener, apparently you and I are very much of an age; I cut my teeth on AT&T Unix System V back in 1984 and since then I've developed and supported systems platformed on UNIX, XENIX, AIX, SOLARIS, and of course the current industry darling, LINUX (my current in house system is Debian).

Ironically four years ago I got "voluntold" I was changing careers and thrust into the world of what is now called Conversational AI; at first I was very worried it would be the end of my IT career as wrapping my old inelastic brain around that platform literally hurt. I spent a year of evenings and weekends working with the toolset and suddenly things started happening, not only for the company I worked for at the time, but also for my career; it's bizarre to think of being in one's mid 60s and suddenly being one of the hottest commodities on the street. Things have gotten so crazy I literally reject a dozen or more requests for interview per week. However, since the first of the year I did let three recruiters get me on the phone, and one of them happened to present me with what, for me at least, was both a dream job and a dream salary. Strange how things flow in this crazy world.

YAY!! A kindred spirit in the house! I used Tandy Xenix and then SCO Xenix circa 1985. Somewhere in my garage is a floppy disk with Linux 0.1(?) on it! Yes, Linux used to fit on one floppy diskette! I'm not sure about the version, though, as I haven't actually seen the disk in 15+ years, after moving cross-country, but I know it's in a box in my garage. I downloaded it in late 1991.

I envy you! I'm not jealous, but I am envious. I had intended to work well into my 70s because I LOVED my work and couldn't imagine not having goals to achieve every day, doing productive things every day, solving problems every day, etc. But, alas, my body had other plans and I had to quit working VERY prematurely due to illness.

I hope you're as uber-proud of Linux's status and place in society today as I am. We watched it go from a little project by some kid in Finland to the world's most-used operating system, the OS that runs 100% of the top 500 supercomputers, the OS that runs everything from the DVRs in our houses to the International Space Station! And all of *our* computers.

My personal favorite distro is Kubuntu, which I've used since v5.04. Prior to landing on Kubuntu, I tried numerous other distros including Red Hat, Fedora, many others (some of which no longer exist). Since landing on Kubuntu, I occasionally try another distro just to see what's out there. Most recently I installed Slackware on a brand-new laptop, and really liked it...but not enough to pull me away from Kubuntu, so off it went and Kubuntu happily hums away on that computer.

Really glad to 'meet' another Linux geek!

No kidding! Especially a board that has nothing to do with tech/computing/programming/OSes, etc.

You know what? I still have my SCO Xenix manuals. Maybe I'll post pics one day. They're beautiful, loose-leaf books, each encased in its own box, which they slide out from. The great thing was that when a new command/feature was released, a [physical] man page would be included with the disk, and I'd insert it in the appropriate place in the manual. Very nice way of keeping things up-to-date.

I also am fond of Linux although I run Windows (I'm a gamer and no matter how far Steam's Proton has come, it's still got a long way to go, and Linux is hit or miss on old console emulation too which is one of my favorite uses of my desktop at the moment) and MacOS as well. When I was living with my dad he let me build a machine to install various distros of Linux on in addition to my main machine. This was back in like 97/98 (I was around 13-14) when Linux was still very much command line and configuring Xfree86 was the stuff of nightmares if you weren't intimately familiar with the hardware in your computer. SuSE was my favorite distro back then, Mint Cinnamon is my favorite now although Pop! is growing on me and is what I run on this crappy Dell laptop I made the mistake of buying a few years back.

I go on Distrowatch every now and then and grab a new ISO to try out in VMware (not a VirtualBox fan and Xen seemed like too much hassle for something I just like to tinker with). My desktop has Windows 10, KDE Neon, and MacOS Big Sur running in a triple boot config. I actually need to purge that KDE Neon install and go back to Mint or Pop! so I think I will go ahead and do that before I go to bed tonight.

ETA: Pop! OS won the great debate. Nvidia support out of the box and I prefer Gnome to MATE or Cinnamon.
