An acquaintance of mine showed up at my house with this. The R1T.

It is sahweet.

Fast. 0-60 in like 3.2 secs which is impressive by itself, but this beast weighs 8,520 pounds!

Love it. How's the build quality? It's the only thing that makes me crazy about these startups is you can tell they haven't been making cars long. They've gotten better but every time you close the door on a German car you can tell the build quality is in another universe.

That said I'll never own another one outside of warranty.

I hear what you saying @805orbust.

I have seen a few Teslas with sub par build quality. His truck seemed though seemed quite decent. Body panels lined up and were tight. Interior finish is not as nice as an Audi but he waited three years for this vehicle so ....

My wife was quite impressed when she heard her first 'thunk' closing the door on my BMW. She won't buy anything else now.

@NoMoreE46 dude, you're not gonna believe this but I thought of you today. The Mrs and I got to see one on the way home from brunch this afternoon. You're right, DEFINITELY not the panel issues like Tesla, and it is pretty nice. Looked very high quality. Appeared bigger than I thought. Pics do not do it justice. It's a nice ride.

It's amazing that door-closing is like 10th on the list of lessons everyone else can learn from the Germans. Incredible machines.

Wow sorry that thing is ugly.. Regarding build quality you are right alot of friends have teslas mainly model S and the build quality isn't there. I stick with german personally myself. I guess each person likes different things. I think what i would be worried most about this car manufacturer is their financials and if they will be around in a few years as they are taking brutal losses at least on this last quarter and alot of other people that have alot more infrastructure thinking ford etc other then obviously Tesla. They basically need at least a few repair/dealerships in each state before really practical. Just need alot of things to go right for them to not shut down and only a few to go wrong and well people will have alot of expensive paper weights.

I was an original reservation holder back in 2012 for the Model S. They raised the price by $9000. It was already more than I had ever spent on a car by a 5 figure margin. But when i finally saw one in person it was disappointing. I had an A8 at the time and there was no comparison. We prefer the German cars also.... well, the Mrs still does, I'm finding it hard to get past the value proposition of Hondas now that I'm halfway through my 50's. 🤣

Agree on the R1T @CreditCuriosity , its an acquired taste. Definitely not as scary as we used to think electric cars were gonna look tho.

DW gets the better cars (2018 X5). I drive ten year old + vehicles now until it hurts to keep them.

The front of the R1T is non traditional looking. It looks big partly due the 20 inch wheels, Tee footprint is smaller than a F150/Silverado; I guess its closer to a Tacoma.

It has a lot of neat features. One is a $5000 option to house a camp stove.

Oh that is sick. LOVE the innovation. I think that's definitely more doable than say, a Cybertruck... Even the F150 is a sweet alternative, as is the Silverado.

My situation is almost identical... wife has a 2018 Cayenne (about 13 months left on the warranty 😉), and I whatever particular Honda is the current flavor in my brain.

I personally love it

I've been struggling with the "give us a deposit and then wait a year for it to arrive before even test driving it" model of e-vehicle car buying lately.

I also like the truck better than the SUV. Congrats to your friend!

I see these all around, very cool!! I like them, I was actually looking at getting one of these for everyday but I'm not sure... I'm leaning more towards the wicked cool lucid air!!!

Huracan is awesome, friend has one along with Urus. Lucid is fast, but kinda looks like a buick or oldsmobile type look to me, not for me once again on that

Glad I'm not the only one who found the design hideous. I'm starting to think I'm just going to be a pedestrian after my BMW runs into the ground because there's just nothing really out that that's attractive while still being even remotely practical (and, yes, those new grills are a deal-breaker for me, BMW).

Basically once the mainstream car makers are going full tilt, this is gonna get good. I can't wait to replace my Avalanche with that new Silverado EV... when you can find one for under $120,000... this time period reminds me of when I was a kid and in South America it was $22,000 for a used 75 Chevy Impala

@cashorcharge I wholeheartedly agree. I had a dealer call me today about an inquiry I made and I just told him that he was wasting his time calling me. That I'd eat popcorn until this is over 🤣
