Best Private Student Loan Available with Joint Account?

I'm looking for the best place to get a Private Student Loan using my mom as Co-Signer to pay for living expenses and computer etc. Any suggestions would be great to apply online.

Nobody getting private loans these days?

I was going to use Alliant, but my school wasn't in there system to qualify.

Discover is doing it the pull experian and there can be no lates on either person credit report. Friend just got one i tryed to co-sign but i had a 30 day late 6 years ago and said no go the ended up using another friend. the funny thing is i have a 15k discover and the loan was only for 20k i told them i would close the account but they said no way and i have all 760+ fico. hope that helps. ohh and they only do 15 year loans i think

I looked into private loans for this last year of grad school...I had a wedding to pay for on top of not having the bulk of our income coming in any longer. I first called my school's financial aid office. I was told that I was already getting loans through them up to the maximum amount they calculated for school expenses. They suggested we use the equity in our house.

When I clicked into some private loan sites, they all had verbage indicating that I could only be approved up to the max my school allowed for expenses...so I didn't even try going the private route.

We will make it just fine without the private loans, and now I'm glad I didn't pursue them any further. They would have given us a bit of breathing room, however.

Everything I'm finding will only let me borrow up to what school costs, which I have already maxed out with the school!

What ever happened to the days of borrowing on student loans to pay for computer and rent

I dont know, my girlfriend and I are going through this to try to find a way for her to live comfortably. She's in nursing school and working 40 hours a week at the hospital and still struggling. She has maxed out her federal loans and has even gotten grants to pay for books and $1000 of her tuition, but its an expensive school and we're running into the same thing you have. Its terrible that a child's ability to educate themselves is almost solely dependent on the responsibility of the parent, and her parents dont give her jack.

Thank god my parents are financially responsible and had me a college fund set up or I never would have survived all six years

You should look in your phone book for your local federal career center. They basically give out free money (govt. grants) that I never even knew about, but she has gotten checks for about $2500 a semester from our career center that never have to be repaid.
