I have a situation.....

I have something from the UoP stating that i owe them several thousand dollars for dropping out...

I dropped out after i had completed and just did not sign up for new classes.

All my financing was from Sally Mae and i am still paying that.....

Am i correct in assuming that this falls under the class action lawsuit that is currently against them? Since they have already been paid, it seems they are trying to get paid again???

I'm confused. At what point did you drop out? Did you formally withdraw? Did UPX already bill the classes, but the loan didn't pay them? Most importantly, do you have documentation that you withdrew before the deadline? I'm afraid we need more details...

I withdrew after 2 quarters, so half year.... The woman that was my guidance councelor, had ended up leaving the company, but i did withdraw formally....

UofP WAS paid by my student loan..........

Do you still have your original contract with UoP? The withdrawal process is probably listed in the contract or in the handbook.

Did the cost of the 2 quarters of classes equal the loan disbursement they received?

There are a few posts on this site about UoP making an ugly reappearance and demanding money a long time after the student left.

If it were me, I would call UoP and ask them to help you understand the bill you reiceved. Be nice and polite. Then once you have their side (and ask them to mail you or fax you or email you a copy of what they are looking at so you can be on the same page as them). Contact your lender and ask for a statement of what was disbursed to them.

My own experience with UoP was calling them 1-2 yrs after I left school to get the transcripts. All of a sudden, they claimed I owed them more than 3k. No bills were sent, no one called me, no CA, and nothing on the CR.

When I asked for documentation and help understanding, that put them on the defensive. I never received any information from them and never heard another word about the money (unless I was asking for transcripts).

The problem is, i never heard anything, and i all of a suddenly see it on my CR reporting sold to another collection agency or something....

Did it come off of your Cr as well???

So i just called Sallie Mae - And they stated that UofP was sent 2400+ dollars (larger then what they are saying i owe them) -

The ladie at Sallie Mae was saying that the loan was canceled though, and they were sent back all of the money.... i asked the ladie, why have i been paying you then????

She says, umn, give me one moment i have to look deeper into your account....

She then comes back and says....

that my original loan amount - 4750

Refund: 2243.66

Remaining amount of UofP: 2506.34

This is absurd.

another update -

Im done for....

they are reporting i failed two of my classes with "F" grades when every single one of my other classes reports an A grade.....

They say that the only way they can challenge grades is if it is within 6 weeks of the grade being given....

They are nice to work with, just once they hit a wall of well sorry cant help, it all hits a wall.....

think i could do a DV on the collection agency who isnt even reporting on my CR yet?

Also its sold to a CA.....

They should be reporting a balance of 0 right?

Has UoP sent you a detailed account of financing?

You have the information from SM and now need to compare it to UoP. Remember there is a loan origination fee that gets taken out of the amount that SM sends to UoP.

Is UoP saying that you failed 2 classes so you know owe them the funds for those classes as well, since they cancelled the student loan?

Yes, they sent back the money i got from the government and saying that i owe them the money they sent back - 5 THOUSAND total dollars for 2 months of classes???

A little absurd.

ALSO - [Edit] I have gotten in contact with an "Internal Executive Account Manager" and she is helping me look through my account.

Update -

UofP states that the money i owe them, is what they returned to Sallie Mae from my loan.

Anyone know what i should do here?

How can they tell me that i have to pay for something, that they refused payment on with a loan?!?!?!

the UofP got in trouble for doing this in 2008 and they are back to their old ways (of they never stopped)

This is really shady -

I contact the CA and they say they dont own it, they just manage the debt and that they dont have any say in what happens to the account.

I contact the UofP and they say contact the CA....

so i emailed the president of UofP to see if i can just pay it off and have it deleted.
