Auto Loan Payoff

I just paid off one of my auto loans and am about to pay off another.  How long (legally) does the bank have to report this payoff to the credit bureaus?  Utimately, how long do I have to wait until the balances show "0" on my credit reports?

Re: Auto Loan Payoff

The payment will post to your credit report after the next billing cycle and show the 0 balance.

The closed 0 balance accounts will stay on your credit report for 10 years. Yah!
