I was just speaking with a woman in their loan dept on Monday. I was calling to ask about a mortgage, but since she was on I also asked her a question about my monthly score I receive from them and she told me they didn't use those scores. She pulled up my score from my auto loan in Jan and she gave me the actual score they used which was lower.

The free monthly score they provide is an EQ04 score just like the one they pull for auto loans, unless the off chance that they pulled EX for you, which actually happened to me.

I'm confused...the free Fico is from Experian as well and that's what it sounds like.  They pulled EX for your auto loan EddieK?

They pulled EQ for membership.  And pulled EQ and EX for my auto loan.  But them pulling EX for anything is very rare, I didn't even know until they sent me a letter stating what report was used and score when approved for the auto loan.

Oops my bad, they pulled EQ for membership.  I meant EQ not EX.  They pulled EX as well for your auto loan?  Both of your scores are good, that makes no sense.  My EQ is good but my EX is low and it would actually work against me.

Yeah, surprised me too since she told me over the phone they were going to pull my EQ.  I'm sure I could have pressed it and tried to get them to remove the inquiry, but it was my first one on EX in a few years so no biggie.  And my EQ report is far better than my EX, which is the only report that has a paid tax lien on it.

That sucks!  But looking at your scores, you were still eligible for the best rate.  Or was it lower when they pulled?  I hear 675 is the cutoff for their best rates.

Yes, it qualified for best rate, on either EQ (691) or EX (692) at the time, which you are correct 675 will get it.

My EX is low. I may have to freeze TU and EX when I do my app.  My EQ is close.  Thanks for the heads up!

Re: DCU scoring question

I'm sorry I didn't clarify. I had a question for her regarding my auto loan rate because when I applied for my loan my score was 692. I also told her I based that off the monthly score they email which she looked at and said we don't use those scores for loans. She said she could pull up my application from Jan and tell me the exact score they used to approve my auto loan which was 646. I was confused about this because at the time my score from myfico was higher than 636 in fact all of my score was 686. I don't recall which report they pulled. Sorry I wasn't trying to confuse you. The Jan thing came up because I specifically questioned that month because I got my loan hat month.

It just puzzled me because I thought I should have received a better rate, but based on the score they actually use it makes sense to me. I'm not sure what model they used because none of my scores were that low at the time. But I will add that I have received a rate reduction for making my first 3 payments on time. And they stated the will continute to lower it up to 1.50%.

No worries!  That is interesting as EddieK's score was based on the actual Eq but also Ex.  Aye the mysteries!  But wow good to know about the rate reduction!  Thanks for the clarification!

Re: DCU scoring question

My actual score on EQ website is higher(720) than whats shown with FICO 8(EQ 700, TU 733, EX 745) on my 3B report.  Does anyone know which score DCU uses?? I want to make sure that my ducks are in a row before I jump into the lake!  Alll of the older scoring models have me lower. Credit Karma shows TU 700 and EQ 661 ans Sesame shows 700.....I'd like to go on a mini app spree and get 3 prodcuts from DCU is possible....

Look at your score that you pulled from here.  It's called Score 5, the one it says is usually used for mortgages.
