Difference between primary and coapplicant

In applying for a car loan, my credit is fair, one year out of BK, but I have a tax lien; my girlfriend's credit is good, but she has a high DTI.  If I was trying to get a car loan, would it be best for me to apply with her as the coapplicant, or is it best for her to apply with me as coapplicant.   (My income is also very low, due to part-time work with full-time school.)

If her credit is better, have her apply as primary. Keep in mind, if the relationship goes sour you'll both have to deal with refinancing a car loan.
