With the current credit score you list, you'll be eatten up on the interest rate. If what you're currently doing get's you to work, wait on the car until you've fixed your credit and start seeing some movement in your score. Also, bank the money that you believe you have availble for car paymenst for 3-4 months to be sure you can afford what you're planning.
Well, what I am thinking, is to repeair my score with having an auto loan on my (trade) line of credit. For the car I will buy, I can pay cash, but that will get me nothing on my credit score. I have opened an account with DCU (because I've read a lot of good things about them), and hopefully they will finance me in a few months for 5-6-7k.
