So I just am wondering how much insurance have people on their leased Honda's. I was told I can have state minimum but was told by someone else that I need 100/300k insurance on the car. What are ya'lls experiences?
@Anonymous I haven't leased with Honda, but my first VW lease in 2015 required 100/300 in CA. My second in 2018 only required minimum. Not sure why the change. May have been a typo at the dealer.
I have heard from others they had 100/300 requirement on their leases. Can't remember if they were Hondas though.
The old day of leases needed large insurance coverages.
Recently within the last 10-15 years, the state minimum is all that is needed with full coverage.
I currently have a Honda lease thru AHFS and they said the minimum 15/30 is fine but I have 50/100 on all my cars across the board w/ $500 deductible.
You never know living in Southern California if your Honda hits a McLaren or Bugati, or exotic car these days....
Me too I have 50/100 on my 2003 Chevy but I would like to keep 50/100 on the Honda. I live in California so it's just smarter to try to have more coverage.
100/300 is the min I will go with regardless of requirements.
I have much higher on my cars.
Ask your agent to quote you different levels, I bet the cost diff is not dramatic.

It really doesn't matter how much coverage other people have.
The lease agreement you signed will specify the minimum insurance requirements.
You are in default on the agreement if you have less (or no) coverage.
I don't know about Honda but our current Infiniti lease requires 100/300 and our Toyota lease from 2017 (already turned in) required 15/30

if you hit a McLaren or Bugati or exotic 15/30, 50/100 or even 300/500 won't help you..that's bodily injury..you would have to have carried $300k on the property liability side.
Hi @Anonymous what was the outcome? I am picking up my new lease from Honda in 2 weeks and have the same question regarding insurance coverage.
I just needed my state minimum but I currently have 25/50. Had has their own gap though.
