Just too good to be true!?!?

I was looking around on Autotrader and i came across an ad for a

2007 Toyota Camry with 22k miles and the seller only wanted $7000,

well i emailed the seller to make sure the price they had advertised was correct,

 he emailed me back:

 Hello, I'm Sgt Tony Watson.
What can I tell you in a few words is that I am an individual seller, I
am not a dealer and this is my first type of auction on AutoTrader.
The 2007 Toyota Camry is in perfect working condition. This vehicle
engine runs very, very smooth, automatic transmission, fuel type -
gasoline. No electrical problems on this beauty. This detailed vehicle
makes the exterior looks like it just came off the assembly line. The
car has 22,363 miles on it.

As I know that my current situation is pretty special I want the deal
closed only through eBay's Buyer Protection Program in order for you to
be 100% protected. You will make the payment to eBay and they will hold
the money until you receive the car. ONLY AFTER you receive the car and
you inspect it(for 15 days)  I am located in Valencia, Spain and I was
sent here to improve the military relationships between USA and Spain.
One month ago, my wife moved here with me and brought the car with her,
but now we have to sell it back in the United States because we can't
register it here; it has US specs and everything, and registering it
here in Europe will take for ever.

My price on it is $7,000.00 If we reach an agreement, I am willing to take care of the shipping to your address. Shipping will take 10 days maximum.

I have managed to obtain a low cost shipping, only $800 and I presume it would be fair to split the shipping cost so, we'll pay $400 each.

Meaning, that  the car and the shipping/handling will cost you $7,400.00 I think this is reasonable.

Please get back to me asap if you decide to buy, and include in your
e-mail your full name and address where you want it shipped so I can
start the deal with eBay. You will receive all the transaction payment
and shipping details from them.

The seller suggest that we use ebay buyer protection which seems like a good idea, but the car is not listed on ebay!

If it sounds to good to be true, it usually is. I wonder why the car isn't listed on ebay ?hmmmmmm That's the main part that strikes me as odd. Something just doesn't sound right.

I hope its a legitimate, but I just don't know about this one, just proceed with caution.........

Doesn't pass the sniff test for me - just google "overseas car sale ebay scam" and see how many hits you get...

SADLY IT IS A SCAM!!!!

DO NOT GIVE HIM YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION.....

I had some stuff on Craigslist for sale.  Every person who replied wanted my full name, address and telephone # to send me a check for the furniture....

One person even claimed to be deaf and could not be reached by phone.....

They want your personal information for whatever reason and I wouldn't give it to them.

Yeah, I hate to say it, but it DOES stink.

For one, I've never had a problem, as a servicemember's wife (w-a-a-y back in the 90s), registering a car. You register with the military base, not the local country.

That guy's full of crap.

Yea i contacted ebay about and they told me to forward them the emails! They will let me know something when the investigation is complete!

Ok - this is def a scam. 1st clue TMI in the response, 2nd clue- send money before delivery of goods. This is such acommon scam that it is not even funny. There was a  news story featured on this type of ebay scam about 1 mth or so ago here in Atlanta. The car involved was a newer model van for $5000, and they did get people to send money that was lost and of couse they received no vehicle. the so called seller tried to sell the same van to several "suckers".
