my dad has an auto loan with Toyota. I wonder if I could be added to his auto loan as a co payer just incase if he looses his job? He has about 1 year to go on the car payment.

Re: Silly Question

Why would you want to be added to the loan? To establish a credit history?

The only way you could be made a co-signer for this loan would be to refi it under both names, If your father were to lose his job, you could make the payments to Toyota, True, you wouldn't get the credit history, however Toyota doesn't care who pays them, as long as somebody does,

Also as for co-signing car loans, One other reason to avoid having a vehicle you aren't driving in your name is,, You'd better ensure the thing is insured,,, or you could get caught in a civil liability issue,, even though you don't drive it or even know which state it's in,  I've been there, done that with dat' B****H!!! ex of mine ---
