Ah, I was thinking more along the lines of a 2013 on the lot in 2013 when the 2014s are being shipped and about to be on the lot. Been intereted in a 2013 A4 and being offered "deals" from the dealership. I really wanna see invoice on the car before I decide if it is a deal or not.
It is not all about invoice. They can sell a car for under invoice and still make enough money to stay in business. The USAA car buying service can be helpful, you don't have to be a member to use it. KBB will also tell you invoice and fair market if you are interested. Invoice has gotten closer and closer to MRSP, but that doesn't mean the dealers are making less money. They have their ways.
I will look at a 2013 A4 AWD Premium w/auto no options:
MSRP: $35,495
Dealer Invoice: $33,073
KBB fair market: $32,662
USAA: $33,263
I would say, getting it for $32,500 would be a pretty good deal.

The price you can get depends on your market. Here in San Francisco, Audi's are in high demand. So, they bring high prices. USAA car buying service takes into account your location and gets the best offers from the local dealers. In the bay area all USAA could get would be invoice, but in an area with less of an audi demand. You might be able to do better.
If you can get it for $37k you are doing well.
