Filed BK 7 Dec 2011 and dischaged April 2012, BK 7 no longer on any reports and have scores over 800 on all 3 credit reports,. I burned AMEX for $3,000 in BK 7. I went to AMEX pre qualify section and i put my info in and shows 3 credit cards i am eligible for, 1 being the Platinum card.
Burning them for the $3k auto decline? Or should i apply and see what happens?
Thanks for any and all advice !!
It seems to be YMMV as far as when AMEX lets customers approve customers who declared BK with them even if the BK is removed from their credit reports. Looks like the only way you'll find out is if you pull the trigger and apply

Go for it OP! Congrats on making it to a clean report!
I shared my positive experience with AMEX in a post in April 2021. Since the post my AMEX Cash Magnet (originally approved 5 years 4 months post DC) CL has increased another $6K to a total CL of $26K and I was approved for an AMEX Platinum with a 150,000 point bonus. My Lowe's AMEX Business card was approved for a CLI (from $13.5K to $25K). All of the aforementioned CLI approvals and the AMEX Platinum approval were completed WITHOUT a hard inquiry. I want to stress that I burned AMEX in my Chapter 7 BK and I did NOT repay the discharged debt of approximately $10K.

Agree with the responses above, your only real way to know is to apply. If you are blacklisted then it shouldn't result in any inquiries, it would be an automatic denial.
I did NOT burn Amex in my BK, but as a datapoint I just got approved for an Amex Platinum at just over 5 years post-discharge. I did the same as you did -- checked their offers page and it showed me as good for the Plat. According to my read of the advertising on their website it looks like they may only be doing SP's now for applications until you accept. Either way, if they're going to auto-decline you due to burning them that shouldn't result in an HP, so I don't see much risk for giving it a shot.

Got the BCP in April. 6yrs 1 month. 1 HP. Gold 2 months ago. No HP.
Just wanted to let everyone know, I went ahead and applied for the Amex Platinum card (they were offering 150,000 Points) and I was approved right away!! They hard pulled Experian and Transunion. No mention of the $3,000 I burned them in my chapter 7 bk in Dec 2011. Hope this helps others
Congrats! Gives me hope down the road lol.
