I shared my positive experience with AMEX in a post in April 2021. Since the post my AMEX Cash Magnet (originally approved 5 years 4 months post DC) CL has increased another $6K to a total CL of $26K and I was approved for an AMEX Platinum with a 150,000 point bonus. My Lowe's AMEX Business card was approved for a CLI (from $13.5K to $25K). All of the aforementioned CLI approvals and the AMEX Platinum approval were completed WITHOUT a hard inquiry. I want to stress that I burned AMEX in my Chapter 7 BK and I did NOT repay the discharged debt of approximately $10K.

When did you file? That helps.

@FireMedic1 I filed in May 2013 and as noted in my signature information was discharged in August 2013.

Congrats @sweetz28!!!!! Being able to benefit again from AMEX membership and rewards has been great!

Re: AMEX Platinum Possible Approval after 10 Years Chapter 7 BK Discharged

Received my Amex card over the weekend, and it say's "member since 2006". That is the year I took out AMEX, that I burned them for $3k in Chapter 7 bk (discharged 3/2012). I stayed in there system all this time, never did they ask for me to re-pay them the $3k I burned them for. So there is hope for everyone to get back in with AMEX -

I've read in the past that it depends on the amount that you burn them for. It's easier to get back in for amounts under $5,000.00.

Just be cautious in apply for too much credit with them. They will still remember and I believe you will be more likely to get a FR in the future if your exposure is too high with them.  I failed the FR process and have hard limits placed on all of my Charge cards.  In addition to having hard limits placed on my accounts, I can no longer open any new products with Amex either.

Things started to go sideways once I crossed the $100,000.000 exposure mark.
