I am one year post CH7 discharge and I received an alert from myFICO and CK that a remark code had been removed and another added to an account that was included in bankruptcy. It stated they removed "Bankruptcy Chapter 7" to "Account Transferred or Sold" and "Charged Off Amount". They also updated the account status to "Charge Off". While I am very upset at this incorrect reporting at the year mark, especially when it was originally updated correctly as IIB, what I am stunned about is the raise in score??? It went up 19 points as a charge off? Any insight on this and next steps? I have filed a dispute with the bureau.
No additional negative remarks can be added to an account IIB. If you gained some points. Leave it. The BK over rules anything on a report. I wouldn't poke the bear in this case.
Thank you for your reply. I was wondering/afraid I would start being denied or receiving less favorable SL/APR if I app for something with anything reading as "charge off"....seems like a flag systems would auto scan for and I was just considering obtaining a card and CLI
@Mermaid330The BK will be the deciding factor and how you handle credit after the BK. No one files BK without some baddies showing. Why file then. Yes there are a few due to income loss for a variety of reasons. Thats rare. It comes down to did you turn your credit world around for the better after BK.
