I received this email from Affirm last night. This was an account that was discharged in my BK7 in July 2021. Why would they be doing this and why would anyone want to buy an account that isn't collectible because it's a BK discharged account?
Let your attorney know and them ASAP. Thats isnt allowed at all. In fact call the 800 # and tell them you filed and you will turn the e-mail over to your attorney if it isnt removed and collections are stopped. Its a $1000 for violating BK laws. Keep us updated please. Good Luck!
Very simple, send them a copy of your bk discharge or the info therein and send it certified mail return receipt requested, it should stop them dead in their tracks.
A collection agcy tried collecting an old debt from before my bk7 and my lawyer told me to simply send them that info. i havent heard from that collection agcy since, about 2 years ago.

Please understand that a Discharge is an injunction to continued collection efforts. The holder of the debt is simply prohibited from asking for payment. Your uncollectible account can be sold or transferred. Junk debt buyers like Jefferson Capital, purchase accounts in bulk. Some are collectible, others are not. If Jefferson Capital tries to collect, as others have stated, send a copy of the Discharge to it and that should resolve any problems.
