Anyone ever heard of/ experienced creditors removing accounts from collections after filing?

DISH Network removed my account from a collection agency during the month when I filed for bankruptcy. Was discharged last June, and last month or so they decide to bill me and send my account back to collections (I believe a different collection agency this time called EAN, the dish person wouldn't say for sure)

Does this happen often? Can't say I understand why they decided to do this among the other creditors.

And they say it sent to collections this past 31st of March, yet I check CreditKarma today, and I don't see anything on Equifax or TU, I'M guessing it just hasn't been updated yet?

Ask for the name of the collection company, the name of the caller, any and all rep ID numbers and then tell them they can remove it instantly or you will look into an FCRA attorney Smiley Happy

Re: Anyone ever heard of/ experienced creditors removing accounts from collections after filing?

Appreciate the reply. From what the executive person told me, it's not that he WOULDNT diverge the collection agency as much as it was him apparently not knowing and "EAN, that's all the note says".

And I've read that DISH doesn't care about the Fair Credit Reporting Act. I received several different answers by different DISH folks regarding my acct, the classic run-around, but I might just have to give that a try anyways though

What would be my basis though for having them remove the collections? These folks were ***holes enough w/ me trying to be nice, I can only imagine me bumrushing them with threats will just lead to a power struggle I'd lose...

If it was discharged just skip the mess and contact an attorney for a free consultation, can't hurt! If they were discharged the HAVE to report IIB and a $0 bal. is it reporting correctly?

I've looked at CreditKarma, it's updated and I'm not seeing anything new on Equifax or Transunion. And it wasn't included in bankruptcy, they removed it when I filed so it wouldn't be included in my bankruptcy

Can you explain in detail what it is you are saying here?

And was there any disbursement from your bankruptcy to any creditor ?

Agreed, doesn't make much sense.. When you submitted the list of creditors were they on there?
