It has just over two years since my BK7 discharge (11/2016) and decided to apply for the Amazon Store Card because I do so much of my shopping on Amazon.com. I was a little nervous because Synchrony Bank was IIB for about $1,000.
I received an instance approval with a starting limit of $3,800. I PIF every month, so the limit only needed to be as much as I spend, but this will be great addition to my rebuild journey.
Hi @Hex,
USAA has been very friendly to me. I did not have an account with them prior to my BK (8/2016), but went right to them after I filed. I immediately received an unsecured card with them for about $1,000. In January of 2018 I received a CLI that brought my CL to $3,000 and in August I did another CLI and it raised my limit to $9,500. In December of 2016, I put $5K in a CD and opened a secured card with them. This one I am keeping open to just to raise my average account age.
NFCU has also been very friendly to me. Similiar story: opened a secured card with them and they auto-graduated me just about 6 months later and then a CLI about another 6 months later.
I am an Army veteran, so that allowed me to open a new account with them. They were NOT IIB.
I hope that this is building a strong relationship with both of them for when I go for a mortgage in a year or two.
Did that help?
Hi @Mr_Big,
It was definitely Sync/Amazon before and after.
Congratulations on your approval!
MrDJSeattle,
Congratulations on the approval for the Amazon store card! I use mine regularly and I love 5% back and free prime shipping!
