Authorized User post Bankruptcy

Hello!

• I’m asking this question on behalf of my brother in law •

My brother in law was discharged of chapter 7 bankruptcy back in August of this year, he’s trying to become an authorized user on my husbands credit card but he has been shut down by AMEX due to having a credit card with them that was discharged in his bankruptcy. His question: what companies are likely to let his be added as an authorized user on my husbands credit card? You name the company, my husband has it.

Thanks in advance all Smiley Happy

Re: Authorized User post Bankruptcy

Companies that got burned by being IIB, esp Amex, will not touch him for a long time. There is no HP to be added as an AU, so he could try with a few & see what develops...

^^ +1 Just make sure the account being added as an AU is not a maxed out card.

Re: Authorized User post Bankruptcy

Being added as an AU will help his AAoA, his overall CL, & his payment history, provided, the account(s) he’s added to have low UTL, high CL(s) & perfect pay history. He probably won’t get that big of an overall score bump. YMMV.
