BK Discharged Day before T-giving

I've been following some online advice and feel like my head may explode.  My scores are floating between 567 for experian and the other two are at 595 and 605.

I was sent a CC app from Credit One (no fee/did not read fineprint) in the mail prior to discharge, waited until discharge and was approved for 300.  Seem that they quality of paper that they used for my app may have been more expensive than my credit line but I digress.  I also applied for capital one and was approved for 3k (no fee/did not read fineprint)

I burnt to a crisp through Chap 7:

Chase
PenFed
BofA

My intent is to now get a secured Discover CC and perhaps a secured loan.

i've read several things...

- do not use over 10% of credit

- pay 1/2 of balance 15 days prior to your reporting date and pay off balance day before reporting date
- charge 20 day before reporting and pay 20 day after reporting (contradicts advise above)

I have zero debt otherwise

I would be highly appreciative of any advise that any of you may have.  I don't have a gameplan.

Great group of people btw.

Burnt to a crisp -- I like the description Cat Very Happy

NFCU would be a good lender for you: SSLT + nRewards secured card. 3 months with those to then get a big boy limit with them.

Secured loan to build credit:

Kikoff offers a free one, only reports to EX and EQ, IIRC. Otherwise, any credit union will do, or Self, or CreditStrong. CU is preferable

Be advised you only really need 1 loan for the scoring boost

PIF all your cards as the charges come in, don't carry or let them report. Unless you need a high score as possible you can do AZEO (preferably with your Cap1 or a Discover provided you get one)

Re: BK Discharged Day before T-giving

Thank you for your quick response...also, what's with FICOs scores...

I have:
wells fargo: 597 fico score 9

Penfed: 647 FICO 9

credit karma 610

capital one 610 transunion, 611 equifax

I am now unsure of the original scores, only one that i am 100% is expediant (they also offer a BOOST?...worth it?)

FICO scores, not Vantage, are the ones you should pay attention to

FICO 8 and 9 are mainly used for personal loans and revolving credit products

Other FICO scores may be used for other products like mortgages and auto loans

Vantage scores aren't widely used, mainly by those free credit report/score companies like CreditKarma/Mint/CreditSesame

You can look up what scores these are/mean if they apply to you
