ummm Chapter 7 stays on report for 10 years.
Who's penalizing you? CC? Some will blacklist you if they were included. Loans? If so, it may be due to your fico scores. Family? Give them coal for christmas.
My bankruptcy is only 3 1/2 years old. I still have some time to kill before it disappears but in the meantime, I'm trying to get all the negatives off my CR. (makes me feel like I'm getting something accomplished)
