Bankruptcy payments

When do file bankruptcy Chapter 13 and the amount is set for your payment monthly is taken out each time you get paid or monthly.  I get paid on the 16th and the 30th. So I am good to assume it will be just taken out 1 a month and not everytime I get paid.  I want to be able to live i.e. food shelter, lights also we have daycare payments.

My monthly payment was split between my two monthly paychecks, 1/2 each time.

My husband just finished his 3 yr payment plan 2 weeks ago....YAY!  Anyway...he is paid on a weekly basis and he had it taken out every week.  When he was laid off last summer he contacted his lawyer and they amended his plan for a 6 week period so he didn't have to pay since our income dropped significantly.

Do the payments have to come out of your paycheck or can you pay the trustee with a personal check or bill pay or electronic transfer from your checking account?

It was so long ago that I can't remember how he was REQUIRED to pay.  I know that his 1st payment was required to be made via money order or cashiers check and then subsquent payments were all garnished except when they amended the plan since he wasn't receiving a paycheck to garnish.
