I could not disagree more. Based on that logic one can build their own ferrari because the specs can be obtained online. Information is not the same as experience. Additionally my time has value. For my income level, $99 month was a no brainer. For others, $99 a month may be the difference between choosing between keeping the lights on or having enough money for transporation to and from work. I grew up under those conditions and do not look down upon anyone who are currently living this way.

My motto is simple. Let your budget be your guide. If you can afford it, pay the pros $99 a month to fight the battle for you in an efficient and effective way. If can afford it and choose not to, I suggest investing $99 month into aninterest earning account.

I am a former Avionics Technican who maintained Boeing 777, 767, and 757 aircraft. I worked on satelite systems, and more. I read and analize very complex technical information for a living. Over time, I could probably get as good as the creditor service pros. I could also probably learn how to build a motherboard, video card, and keyboard from scratch since I am very comfortable with soldering components. Personally, I prefer to buy a computer versus solder one together. Partly because my time is better spent elsewhere. Partly because I have the finacial means to do so. Partly because there is a reason people are paying for the product/service. There is a reason Lex L. has stellar ratings from clients and from 3rd party reviewers. I rate them as a 4.5 out of 5.

In the end. What a person chooses for their unique situation is completely up to them. They can DIY or they can pay a service. If a person either can't afford it or can but chooses to DIY I 100% support their personal decision. I can only share my experience and gain a bit of knowledge along the way.

If not for my decision to marry the wrong individual, I would not be here. My decision put me in this situation. Lesson learned.

.

I get that Lexington Law is the choice for you, which is why I stated "different strokes for different folks". I don't think building a Ferrari was a fair comparison honestly. The parts to build a Ferrari are not readily available to me, nor is there a forum of Ferrari "specialists" to answer any and all of the questions I may have during the building process. Again, there is NOTHING magical or special Lexington Law does. All they do is submit disputes, goodwill requests and requests for debt validation. They hope that companies can't verify, take too long to answer or simply just delete the TL. These are ALL things a consumer can do. For most people coming out of BK I don't think spending $100 a month on something you can do yourself is a smart financial decision. That is great that it worked for you though!

Now I am curious if your BK is in fact around 6.5 years old and all you got was an early exclusion which could have been done with a simple 10 minute online dispute by you Smiley Happy TU and EQ are known to remove things a little early if you ask nicely. I had plentyyyy of things removed early. Best of luck, in the end we are all here to learn and grow.

This is the conclusion I came to, so I am now unimpressed Smiley Happy

I just cancelled my service with them. They got a couple things removed but nothing worth the $500 I spent. I ended up cleaning my own credit. Only thing I havent even attempted to get off was BK and I'm pretty sure thats slowing me down from getting my scores over 700. My scores are now 620-670 on myfico. I'm stuck trying to figure out my next move. I dont like Lexington Law firm at all. They are designed to draw the process out as long as possible to collect the $100 a month when honestly they can dispute everything at once.

You and I were discharged in the same year. There is something besides the BK holding your scores down. My util is all over the place and I have no issues hovering around 730's   You could possibly start a thread to see if some of us can help Smiley Happy

Maybe this will help.

I worked from my end as well versus expecting Lex Law to do everything. I had my mother add me as a user to hr oldest visa card, which aged my credit. I opened a secured Capital One cc, a CreditOne cc, and a Chevron gas card. I charged things to nearly max all three for a week or so and then paid it all down to zero. This made the cb report a high balance that is now zero. I then took a 3 year LendingClub loan of $8000, stuck it in the bank, and used that money to pay it off in 6 months.

People who expect Lex Law to do everything while they sit by are likely not ging to receive results. You have to do additional things like I did. Also, I used Lex Law case valet and emailed them from time to time telling them they were doing a great job on my reports. They made a couple of mistakes that I brought to their attention as well.

You have to be proactive versus just sending Lex Law money. Final note. I hired an attorney with a $1000 retainer to fight the second mortgage, which resulted in a 2017 charge off. Then Lex Law removed them. The attorney refunded approx $500 of my retainer. The second mortgage had been negative on my reports since 2010 or so.

I paid on the front end. Now I am saving more than I paid on the back end and will continue to do so.

I hope this helps someone.

There is not a SINGLE thing Lexington Law can do that you can't do yourself, simple as that.

Re: Bankruptcy was Removed From all Three Credit Reports. Will it show elsewhere with credit check?

I deleted one post and there will be no more discussion of the so called benefits of using Lexington Law.  MyFICO's Forums Terms of Service and Credit Repair Discussion Guidelines are very specific in prohibiting:

  • Promotion of a credit repair organization, as defined in the federal Credit Repair Organizations Act or similar state laws, or the services of such an organization;

It is also against forum rules to discuss removing negative items on your credit report by providing inaccurate or misleading information to the credit reporting agencies.  Please follow these guidelines. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Re: Bankruptcy was Removed From all Three Credit Reports. Will it show elsewhere with credit check?

Scupra, PLEASE stop giving Onebrokenman a hard time.  I for one really value his VERY helpful advice.  Just so you know, I have been working on cleaning up my credit reports for a while, but sometimes life can get in the way and we need to get help, i.e., hiring Lex Law.  I CAN do it myself, but do I want to keep devoting so many hours of doing so???  The answer is no I don't.  I'm just saying that it doesn't help to discourage someone from telling the story, sharing their experience.  If you do not agree with it, that is fine, but there is no need to keep reiterating that we can all do it ourselves -- most of us KNOW that already.  It is exhausting and oftentimes very stressful.  So we get it, you don't think there's anything "special" or "magical" about Onebrokenman's experience, but some of us do.  Please keep that in mind before trying to make him sound like what he did was useless.  He was just trying to be helpful.

Onebrokenman, this does help immensely.  Thank you for sharing your experience even though some did not agree with your methods.  Please don't be discouraged to keep sharing your experience.

Re: Bankruptcy was Removed From Credit Reports. Will it show elsewhere with credit check?

Tootels, thank you so much for your kind words. In or abot October 2017 I purchased a 2011 Porsche Cayman. I used an online lender called Lightstream and obtained a loan for $29,500 for 5 years. My interest rate is approx 2.5%. My payments are just over $500 per month. I put down approx. $2500 (could have been as much as $3000 but I don't remember). I am having so much fun in this car. I openly admit vanity also played a role as well. People do stare as I drive by. The car is black on black and has the Sport's Package which makes it look more aggressive/powerful.

The car was a gift to myself. Had I purchased a new car my interest rate would have been 1.9%. The second reason for the purchase was to add a big-ticket loan to my credit history to help me purchase a house again at a good rate.

At $29,500, buying this used Porsche is no different than buying a new Camry or what have you. Other than 0% introductory credit card offers (many many moons ago) this is the lowest interest rate I have ever had in my entire life. This is the result of the services I paid for, which is why I feel I got a lot out of the $99 month I spent for a year or more.

The point of this post other than thanking Tootels (truly kind words), is to encourage others not to dispair. You are not alone. Be patient and be consistant. Intially months feel like years when you are trying to undo the damage to your credit. Eventually you hit the point where things start moving faster. Getting to that point can feel almost impossible at times.

The beauty is a simple fact you may have overlooked. That simple fact is YOU ARE HERE in this forum. If you are here in this forum then you are being proactive and have not completely given up. That is 90% of what it takes to turn your situation around. Your seeking solutions and guidance is where you begin to turn the tide and the fact that you are here speaks volumes. The other 10% is patience and consistancy.

Also, if you choose to pay for any service to include the services here at MyFICO, read user reviews. Watch out for fake reviews. I do not give good ratings on Yelp or what have you out of symphathy for the service provider. I do so based on realistic expectations and the quality of the service(s) provided.

I purchased a MyFICO account to monitor my reports and feel that I got my money's worth. Moreover, learned a lot from the information provided. I also purchased other services too as a comprehensive approach. Even though I was paying others for these services I remained engaged and took steps where I coiuld to help my situation as well.

In my view there is no single silver bullet. That said some approaches/services yield very aggressive results over time compared to others. Let your budget be your guide. Purchase the services you can afford. No matter what, stay engaged and do what you can as well to either support the purchased services' and/or what can do outside of those services. Most importantly, do not give in to dispair.

This may sound crazy but nutrition matters. A lousy diet will diminish your energy and darken your outlook. I take a very potent multi vitamin every morning with breakfest. I also take an additional 1000 IUs of vitamin D3 and (no more than) 25 mg of zinc four or five days per week. Zinc deficiency increases depression. The more depressed you are the less likely you will contnue to fight this battle. Also, try to avoid making matters worse. There will be setbacks just like the stock market but don't give up.

My ex has me back in court. I have maxed out my $10,000 AMX card paying attorneys, which really hurts. I've been down for a couple of months because of this nonsense. That said, had I NOT worked on my credit I would NOT have a $10,000 AMX card to hire an attorney with. Also, I had to submit my "financials" to the court and she was pissed when she saw I purchased a Porsche despite her never ending desire to destroy me financially versus earning more income on her own. I am well respected in my field and people like me because they can tell I mean them no harm and only wish the best for them. That is something no terrible person or low credit score can take away from me, nor from you.

So never feel like you are the only person suffering in this way. Never feel like you can't work your way back over time. You are not alone in this battle. I am just like you. It will get better if you don't give up.

Re: Bankruptcy was Removed From all Three Credit Reports. Will it show elsewhere with credit check?

Tootels, I am not giving him/her a hard time at all. All I have said is that we can all do the same things Lexington Law does. I told broken “different strokes for different folks” because I truly believe that. I even went on to explain that if it financially makes sense to you, then so be it. I definitely didn’t mean for broken to stop contributing to the boards in any way, so I apologize if it came off that way. For the ones that know me, they know I am a strong believer that there is no single way to rebuild. I feel like broken and I had an adult conversation between us where we can disagree with each other and still walk away friends, and I hope broken feels the same way.

I just want the new people that come through to also know that Lexington Law IS nothing special and they CAN do those things by themselves. If they still choose to use Lexington, thats ok too Smiley Happy I’m not mad. Hopefully you understand where I was coming from now and know I never mean any disrespect in any of my posts.
