CH7 Finally signed and filed today! Should I start disputing accounts?

Hello,

So my SO and I signed the documents this morning and it was filed 30 minutes later. He rushed to stop a judgement hearing and a payday loan payment. I have 2 questions.

I have a buy here pay here car with a box that requires a code when payments are paid. Can they shut it down still if payment is not made? I was going to make a payment and try to keep it till discharge so I can get better rates, but Id hate to make the payment and then they take the car anyway.

2nd question, Should I start disbuting accounts to get them updated and possible removed, or just let things run their course? Like I said I may need a car soon. Id like to pay cash for one, but not sure Ill be able to do that in time.

@House2016 - Congrats to new beginnings.  I'd wait until 30 days after your discharge to worry about your credit reports.  Relax, take your credit course, and get ready for your MOC.  Are you reaffirming your vehicle or are you surrendering it?

Re: CH7 Finally signed and filed today! Should I start disputing accounts?

Like @Justme79 said. Disputing and all that wont help move things faster. You may have signed the papers. But the paralegal has to enter it into the courts system. Submit your filing fee payments. And a whole lot more. I'd still make the payments even though your not reaffirming the car. I'd call the dealer and ask if you can keep the car and still make payments and the dealer wont repo it. Just like a regular auto loan. You dont reaffirm. You make payments and keep the car. But. It isnt reported to the CRA's. If so. Wait till you find another car. Then turn it in.

Let the system play out and wait until all accounts are listed as IIB and 0 balance. You will see a score rise. Then go look for a car. Until then sit back and let the process do it thing. Good Luck!

Re: CH7 Finally signed and filed today! Should I start disputing accounts?

Thank you for replying. Its already filed and in Pacer. I actually paid last Monday. Today we signed it and they filed it electronically. I wont dispute anything on the reports, and Ill call the dealer and see what they say because ultimately Id love to save enough cash and not get a car payment at all.

Re: CH7 Finally signed and filed today! Should I start disputing accounts?

I did contact the dealer yesterday via phone, and they said as long as they get the payment they dont care. So Ill keep paying till I can find something cash.

Unfortunatly I have a wrench being thrown in to the whole situation. My 341 is scheduled for Jan 9, but my wife is taking a test in Dec, and if she passes her work is promoting her. Her salary will almost double and put us well over median income for FL.

Re: CH7 Finally signed and filed today! Should I start disputing accounts?

Generally, It will not ruin your bankruptcy. However, each case and facts is different from another. The best approach is to discuss it with your bankruptcy attorney who knows the facts of your case. Thats been discussed here before and I believe after filing. Thats it. Done in a Chapter 7. 13 would be a problem.
