Hello, new to this forum and have a few questions, looking for answers & advice.
Q #1: Filled for Ch13 in August of 2012, made final payment last month (8/17), according to the Trustees website, the case is closed and all final payments made and I have a zero balance on my account, final payments to debtors have been sent. Question is this: what is the time frame before I'm finally discharged? I've been told SO many different things and my attorney is worthless. Like it could be 4 months before the court discharges us, is this true?
Side Note: Wanting to sell our home ASAP but cannot do so until we're discharged by courts we're told, once sold traveling out of country for 2018 (looking for place to live, work & retire.)
Q #2: Looking through the forum I'm seeing that the BK stays on my credit report for 7 years, is that from file date or discharge date?
Q #3: Why would my credit scores be much higher on: Credit Karma, Credit Seasame and Nerd Wallet vs FICO and which matters more? Like low 700's vs high 500's
Q #4: We have zero debt (Other than home, with serious equity), need the best rewards credit card, looking at a Capital One Venture Card due to the rewards offered. Does anyone have any experience with Cap One?
Thank you VERY much in advance for the help!
I also reside in California, made my final payment 6/26 final report and account complete and disbursements made and clear. as of 9/1 Called the trustee, what happens now is the final report is sent out to creditors, they have 33 days to object, if no objections the final report is approved, then an intent to enter discharge will be entered. That also comes witha 14 day objection period, if no objections then I will receive my discharge order. The agony!!! So based off that time frame from final payment to earliest discharge (no objections) It will be 4-5 months from final payment to discharge. Im looking at mid october if everything goes well.
For question 2 thats correct from what I read here it stays on your credit report for 7 years, and that is from date it was filed. I filed in 2013 and my credit report states it will be removed in 2020.
The next questions, also from research on the forums, credit karma, etc are your FAKO score they used a different code when calculating. They should be used more just to monitor status updates, changes, etc. The scores are irrelevant and not used like FICO scores.
Also from researching here I realized capital 1 is very bk friendly but not until after discharge, you can use the prequal tool to see when your chances are higher. After discharge I would reccomend waiting until discharge appears on all 3 credit reports and ensure all your informationis correctly updated then apply. No point on wasting an inquiry right now.
First thank you for your response!
OMG that's horrible that it takes this long!
That means I may be looking at end of December best case scenario... **bleep**
In answer to question #4: You most likely won't be able to get the Venture card if your Fico's are in the 500's. That card is for good credit. You may have to start with the Quicksilver One if you want rewards.
