Can I dispute a Lender that has shut down it's doors?

I filed BK13 6.5 years ago.

Ditech mortgage is showing up as included in BK even though I paid them 100% of the monthly payments directly and not through the trustee.

I called TU a few days ago and they simply removed it and the BK since I am only 6 months out. !!!115 point increase of Fico8!!!

I called Experian today and they stated that even though they cannot remove the BK, they will remove the comments and Status of this account within 48-72 hours. Hoping for at least a modest score increase... Fingers crossed.

Next on the list was Equifax... I contacted them and they would also not remove the BK, I didn't even ask even though they kept sayiing that they could not. I do not think the overseas rep understood much english. I asked to talk to a supervisor who also did not seem to understand my request but talked to a "Credit Specialist" that understood what an EE actually was and that cleaning up these accounts would indeed help my scores. She said that if I could get official letters from the accounts that are showing IIB stating that they are fully paid and the loans are satisfied that they will do it.

I tried to contact Ditech and they are no longer taking calls and sold off all of their assests. Should I simply dispute this as inaccurate information?

I take it you filed a Chapt 13. When it comes to EQ. They can mess up boiling water. Let it age off naturally. They may reset the clock all over again.

Really? even if they reset the clock on the account wouldn't they be legally liable to remove it once the BK falls off?

Re: Can I dispute a Lender that has shut down it's doors?

I'm in the exact same boat: 6.5 years into discharged BK13. Never missed a mortgage payment and paid outside of BK. Sold to Ditech during BK. Called TU yesterday. TU rep and supervisor said they couldn't remove public record, and before I knew it the sup had filed a dispute. Fed up, I said sure in a weak moment. Within an hour it was gone w/ no trace of a dispute. Logged in to Karma and Cap1 free TU credit checks, and they were there last week but gone today.

Watching to see what happens w/ you? I'm guessing a dispute would take it off in a 30 days, since Ditech wouldn't respond,  but would love to see it go off now. No baddies left except one more CU LOC that says paid, no lates but like Ditech says in discharged BK13.

Funny that TU has reduced hours due to the COVID-19 impacts, when all of the reps seem to be halfway around the world. Seems easier to only open at night.

You don't want to mess with EQ. They will make things worse. And it can be much, much, worse.

@raisemysc0re   How is it going with getting Ditech baddie removed?

Last week all CR showed my Ditech file ad derogatory w/ BK13 statement. As suggested in the forum, I asked TU to EE BK13 now that I'm 6 mo out. They EE'ed it. Then a few days later, I noticed on online sites, all three CRs, derogatory BK13 statement is removed. Ditech shows as steller account on all three. I even went back to saved myannualcreditreport.com reports I had saved several months ago and TU and EX both definitely had derogatory then.  Strange but good. Hoping you had the same experience.
