Hello all, I am looking for advice. I have been using my boyfriends car for the past 3 years and it has finally decided to die on me. My lawyer was set to file my Chapter 7 this week but I am in desperate need of a car. Although I want to wait until after my bankruptcy is completely done, I will not be able to. I HAVE to get to work since this is our main source of income. Is it best to hold off my filing and get a car loan now, or can I still file and get a car loan? I don't want to get into any trouble but I have 4 kids who need to get to school, and I need to get to work. Without my job I have no other income. I would hope it would not get me in trouble if I applied for a loan while my lawyer files my Bankruptcy.
Any advice is welcome! Thank you
Your bankruptcy lawyer is the most important person you should be apprising of this new development and asking this question regarding the effects it will have on your impending bankruptcy..
Buy a $1,000 car
Thanks. I wanted to know what other had done. I spoke to my lawyer.
I filed and obtained credit for a car loan with my Chapter 7 still open.
If you have cash to buy a cash car - id recommend that instead. No payment is always better.
