I am pretty sad and desperate for answers. I was an authorized user on a credit card of a friend it was a very high limit card $26 grand and she had it for like 25 years . No late payments etc always kept the balance reasonable . I had to claim bankruptcy , she knew i was and removed me from the card about a month prior so in march. She then further wanted to distance so she balance transfered what was on that card to a different card she has . Leaving a zero balance. All seemed ok i proceeded with bankruptcy in April and am waiting on my discharge papers in the mail. Fast fwd to today she found out citi closed her card very suddenly and claimed it was because they considered her a risk , they also through chat asked if she had recently claimed bankruptcy which i find suspicious. As an authorized user no longer on the account and the fact my credit should not be taken into consideration i dont get it. It was her oldest card and i feel mortified. She tried to open a new card and immediate denial . But they left her citi costco card open and so far nothing has happened with that one . Nothing is making sense. Is this my fault? Or did the balance transfer spook them? She also JUST refinanced her home and had no issues as she has excellent credit could that have triggered them to close the card> its all just to suspicious timewise even though they cant use my credit to determine her credit worthiness i feel somehow it was factured in. She said she could only write by mail to appeal according to the people on the phone . So she did but im not to hopeful. And also one last thing. I am STILL an authorized user on her chase credit card which i didnt even know nor did she remember she had put me on several years ago. That has a 16,500 limit and only like a $100 balance . We are both frozen in fear if chase will close her card due to me being an authorized user with a chapter 7 . But dont want to raise red flags like on citi and remove me . Is let sleeping dogs lie applicable here ? Please anyone advice.

Look on your schedule or the list of creditors that were included in your BK. If Citi isnt on there. It was on her end not yours. Creditors are getting spooked a lot due to the pandemic. Cutting CL's and so forth.
Unfortunately yes it's on there and so is the chase one but when I question my attorney he said anything that shows up with a balance on your credit report gets put on there . You can't leave off any unsecured debt even if your only an authorized user . But what happens is when a credit card get a notice from the court that joe shmo has filed bankruptcy they look and see that it's not your debt and that your only an authorized user and they don't do anything because legally they can't your credit and the person whom your just an AU are not entwined. And remember I was removed from the account in March so not even an AU anymore. Yet chase still stands open and I'm on that one and now I'm scared obviously it's June they have all been notified by now of my bankruptcy. Do you think they will close it after discharge ? I don't want her to suffer the loss of any other cards. Did anyone else remain an AU on an account even through bankruptcy and stay on with no repercussions? Legally me filing bankruptcy should not have affected at all but I don't know what to do if she removes me from chase I feel that draws attention and could trigger things like the citi one . I just feel terrible and scared for her not me .
Your primary account holder should not be affected if you as an authorized user on the account decided to declare chapter 7 bankruptcy. Your primary's account owners credit history is completely different from yours and their credit history only includes the accounts and public records that were in their name.
