Discharged Oct 17, 2007, need to move out of home!

Ok! Here's a little about us, wont bore with how we got here. Here is where we are at....
We decided to file on our home as well as the credit cards and such. So now we have to move by mid March. And as I have found out renting a decent house/apartment in a safe place around here is gona be way hard AND cost out the rump. So we talked about how we might be able to do this and have x-mas for my daughter AND still be able to eat..( please do not be jugdemental, and yes I know we did this to ourselves, I do not need to be reminded. Sorry have seen some really nasty replies on here)
So I started researching our options, and they don't look good. Have spoken to some of the companies that have been suggested on these forums, and that did not look so good. I have read and read so many post on here my head hurts. So I decided to post in hopes of some really good information/advice on how we can do this.
I am looking for a small loan to get us moved, we can afford to make payments and have the income and work history, but when the Lawyer said stop making payments when we filed that hurt us big TIME. I managed to get expirian report on hubby 601, mine on this site says 572, neither great. I looked into unsecured loans and tried to find secured loans, we own both our cars and was hoping to use them as collateral. But no luck in my search.
Do anyone know (outside of payday loans and title loans, those are no good) where we good go or a company that might work with us?

Thank you in advance for the help
"TR"

PS.. am getting stressed and hubby no help...Smiley Indifferent

What ever happened about being together as a family. Somtimes more than one sacrifices are needed. Instead of worrying about what you do not have as far as material things, please think about the fact that being a family does not eman you have to go into debt. Maybe fix an extra special diner, cookies, etc. Don't allow credit and money to control being a family.n the early days before credit cards were ever invented a l;ot of families were happy & grateful enough to be together. I hope this helps. I know that I will not being buying XMAS because I want out of debt. I want my money to work for me not against me.

Welcome, TR!

Are you planning foreclosure on the house? At least make one last ditch effort to sell it --  you have a few months and it would be a better option.

Do you need the money for the costs of physically moving to the new apt?  Why not enlist the help of friends and family?  You can buy pizza for the group which wouldn't cost as much as a professional mover.

Or have I misunderstood your situation?

Re: Discharged Oct 17, 2007, need to move out of home!

Honestly, I would not take out a loan of any kind if I were in your current situation.  You said you have until March to move.  Save up money now.  I know it's very difficult around christmas time and having children and little money to spend on them.  I was in this situation for quite a while.  Depending on the age of your kid(s) I would just get cheap toys.  Two years ago when I was really strapped for money, I ended up going to Walgreens and buying toys there.  They had a (3 for $11) special.  Yeah, the toys were not the greatest, but my son was young enough not to care.  He was more interested in opening them... that's the exciting part!  Also, any clothes that I needed to buy him, I wrapped up instead of having him wear them immediately.  It just helped to fill the space under the tree.

You must think about what is really important right now.  Food and shelter and health.  If you have those things all will be fine.

Budget, have a plan set out, save a certain amount every check, and only spend what you can really afford to outside of that plan on Christmas.  It will be hard.... but well worth it in the end.

Or, if you really feel the need to get extra cash for Christmas, try to take up a (second) job that is seasonal.   If you can't afford child care (cause I know I can't) then try to find a job that will work around your husband's schedule..... (a 24 hour open place)

These are just my suggestions.  Every situation is a little different.  I just don't think going into more debt is what you should do at this point.  Sacrifice your now so you can secure a happier later.

I know this is an old thread, but wow, some people never learn. You had to claim BK and foreclose on your house and you STILL want to take out another loan. You are putting yourself right back in the cycle of debt. Use what you've got to get what you need. If your current area is too expensive, then move out of the area! Move a little further south, or east, or west. Or make due with a smaller apartment. Look at private owners, not just big complexes. You don't need expensive professional movers. Rent a truck from Enterprise or UHaul and pack up everything yourself. Leave or sell everything but the essentials. My most expensive move was $400, which was the minimum they charged. I controlled the cost by packing everything up myself and moving the smaller things to the new place before the movers came..I only had them move my heavy stuff. My least expensive move was free. I borrowed my dads pick up and had family help me move the heavy stuff. You might also want to check into the possibility of it being cheaper just to buy inexpensive new furniture from places like Ikea or West Elm rather than move the old stuff. Check out Craigslist for movers...maybe you can hire an individual rather than expensive company. You aren't looking at all your possible options to make this a cheap move. DO NOT take out a loan, even if someone will let you. The interest rate will be so high you will end up right back where you came from.

Re: Discharged Oct 17, 2007, need to move out of home!

Yes people file bankruptcy and foreclose because bad spending habits etc...before you get all high and mighty just remember that sometimes people have a bankruptcy and foreclose because bad things happen that they cannot control...and maybe they don't have a friend with a pickup truck and no money to rent a uhaul...no family to help...maybe their kid is sick and may not make it....maybe they don't have the money for a deposit on a apartment...maybe they would like to see their sick kid have a little Christmas! Maybe you might just do what you can to get by even though you know it is not right. I am so darn tired of people assuming that people are just idiots that is why they filed bankruptcy....yeah I have lived life high on the hog and that is why I file BK (NOT!!)....you don't know the situation of the original poster...and I don't know it either but don't bash the person either for wanting their kid to have Christmas gifts. Yeah family is important I know that more than anyone but until you know that whole story don't judge.! I borrowed money to move and for Christmas when we lost our house and I would do it again!!!
