First time home purchase

Hello!

Our ch 7 discharge date was 8/1/17. We have been rebuilt since and our hope is to purchase a home for the first time soon. Can anyone point me where to begin?
What scores should we hold out for?
How much down payment do we need?
How far out post discharge do we have to be?
What type of loan?
Any advice would be appreciated!!!

You might be able to get better info in the Mortgage Section on the forum. There are real estate members there and could get better advise. But some may pop in here.

Re: First time home purchase

What you need is a an FHA lender that does NOT use a bunch of overlays. There are some out there but not a lot.

With out the overlays your time after bk will be cut as will scores.  If my memory serves last week I saw an ad in my email  2 years post discharge score 620 5% down.   Years ago I had Countrywide refuse a client's  loan 5 years post discharge score 700 and 10% down  if tells you how bad overlays can be.
