Getting back in with Capital One

Hello all, firstly, I'd like to give this forum my sincere appreciation for the wealth of knowledge that I have been able to obtain in regards to my credit repair journey. I can honestly say that although my journey has not been a perfect one, I have still managed to follow as much as I can along the way.

Last on my list before I garden is the popular capital one. I did burn them in my BK7 however on my credit reports it shows that this account was closed by the creditor and included in BK on July 5th. My question is would I have to wait for the day after my discharge to apply which would be in August, or am I good to apply now that its been over a year that the account has been closed? I have tried the prequalifier today and I wasn't suggested anything for pre approval.

You must be fully discharged to apply. The pre-qualifier will never give you an offer until at least discharge. Hope this helps.

Re: Getting back in with Capital One

Hi Awashi17 and thanks for your reply. After reading my initial post I see that I forgot to mention that I am already discharged since August of 2015. Would I have to wait then to apply? Or can I apply now, and expect a hard pull since the account was closed July 5th of 2015?

Re: Getting back in with Capital One

From what I've read, they'll let you back in 1 year after their charge-off date. The confusion seems to be what they consider the charge off date... is it the day you filed, day you were discharged, or some other date? Hopefully someone else can chime in with more info.

It is my understanding (based on previous data)

, that IF the account was current at the time when BK was filed, then the chargeoff will be around the date of your discharge.

Re: Getting back in with Capital One

After I read a comment that Scupra put on someone's post in regards to not being afraid to cold app, I decided to bite the bullet and apply for the platinum card even though it didn't pre qualify me through their site...30 extremely long seconds later I was approved for a $500 SL! I am beyond excited for getting back in the door with capital one and now straight to the garden I go! Thanks guys!
