Re: How to rebuild your score after a ch7 BK

Did anyone else get a "new and improved" FICO score today? Mine jumped up 20 points to a 655. I am wondering if I need to adjust my goal upwards as well ?

I believe what is being referred to as Goal Score is the actual Score Watch target Score. If your Target score is set to your current credit score, you will get a notification should the score change.

I need some advice from anyone...I've been following the plan, but i'm nearly 7 mos after BK7 discharge and can't get pre-approved for a Cap One card. I burned them for $700 in BK. Anyone have any suggestions?

I had TWO Capital One accounts when I filed BK7 Nov/2011 D?C Feb 2012

One that was written off already 5-6 years old (now since removed by 7 yr limit) and one that I just got 2-3 months before I decided to file (small partially secured card, had 3-5 months perfect history on it, but it went IIB by way of Ch7 filing

To this day, I STILL do not get any hits on their pre-approval site

However, I had a Orchard Bank $300  that transferred over to Capital One (I thought for sure they'd close it when they took over servicing)

But, they didn't close it, and after about a year - 15 months, I gave in and tried applying for one of their Credit Step things (ONE time bump after 3-6 months)

Didn't think I would get it, but it did approve me for $500, then went to $750 Credit Step after 4-5 months

Previous to that, I had gotten a Walmart card for $300, CLI every 4 months on the clock 300/800/1200/1500

Aftter 6 months of Wlamart and Capital One, I was able to get a $500 BarclaysCard, which went to $1500 after 6 months and now $2050

With that sucess, 2 years after BK-7 filing Dec 2013, pulled the plug on the CapitalOne Prestige Card, and was approved for $5000!. I have since upgraded that into the Quicksilver (not just the QuicksilverOne) card..

STILL never on the preapproved list, so LONG answer is, don't let that alone stop you

Credit.com/CreditSesame/CreditKarma are FREEE/LEGIT and can at least give you a decent idea of where you stand, and what direction you are headed.

@I have since cancelled my Annual FEE Capital One cards with Low limits , and just have NO FEE cards now, 2 cards @ $5000 limits.

I never let any of the $300-500 cards report over 30% balance, and tried to pay them in full almost every month. You can just gget a gas fill up once a month, then pay it immediately as soon as the statement posts. It WILL happen

@Anonymous Credit Union has my Auto financed @ 2.99%, less than 2 years after BK7, and I NEVER thought I would get there so soon

I appreciate the response. I do keep an eye on my score, and am headed in the right direction. I've keept ny CC reporting under 10%. I have a CU card of $1,000 and another CC with $300 limit. Also a $500 line of credit with CU that I've never used, but does report as part of total credit. I also have 2 student loans that I'm making regular payments on.

I aslo burned Orchard in BK. In March (5 mos. post BK) i applied for Cap one and was denied...Resaon was not enough income (which is odd since I make 50K per year and have low debt ratio.) I didn't recon it because I figured they'd hardpull again. So, I've just chilled since then. Three inquiries will drop by end of July, leving me with 3. So, I'm thinkiong I should just wait it out until first of Aug. (10 mos post bk) and see how things are. I would like a higher total credit limit though.

Re: HOW TO: From BK7 discharge to 700 in 24 months or less!

Okay, I have been following this plan and am still very excited and eager to recover and rebuild, but I feel just a bit lost. I filed BK7 2/28/14 and I will be discharged 6/2/14. I already completed pre-steps and have alrady gotten all 3 CRA to update all info so that it reflect IIB and 0 balances for all accounts. My scores have even increased quite a bit. I started at 490 or 510 and am now at 585(Credit.com/CreditKarma/CreditSesame) & 578 FICO. I guess I am feeling lost because I don't know if I am to wait until I am discharged to apply for Credit One or any other card? I went to Credit One and Capital One to see if I could get pre-qualifed and that was a no go, so I am a bit lost as to what step to pursue now and next. Any Suggestions or opinions or insight???

Thanks in advance for any info given.

-Eager
