11/12 Attorney PIF-Says we will E-file this week after I sign the papers.
I am in Washington State. Will be closing two checking accounts(soon hopefully, embarrassed to go in there and close them) that I will be burning their credit cards, and moved to my BOA that I had opened a while ago and haven't really used. Applied for checking's at NFCU 11/12 and will leave BOA once/if I get accepted. I am reaffirming my vehicle since its an 2017, and hoping to refinance after BK since my interest is at 15% with Consumer Portfolio Inc.
11/15 Got in with NFCU Checkings and Savings.. YAY!
11/21Signed papers today and e-filing! Looks like there were a lot more debt than I originally calculated off hand mentioned above. (26,000$ not including the car or SL)
11/29 Received my copy of my paperwork and a scheduled date for the 341 meeting, Jan. 8th.
I thought it would have been sooner, but probably because the holidays it is pushed back. SO over all the phone calls, glad they have stopped! Now to wait!
*Scores *EQ 484 TU 511 EX483-They took some hits just before I filed with some lates and updated before I filed. But everytime a account is updated with IIB score goes up +5 which is weird. but ill take it.

The day after my 341 meeting (1/08/2019)was approved for credit one $300 CL. Currently 80/300. Used it vacation, and decided that was a bad idea. Cut up and just have MyFico Subsciption rolling.
4/15/2019 App for Capital one for REfi and card, declined because I have fraud alert on my Equifax that I need to update to finish the application, they wont talk to me until I do!
5/10/2019 Pulled trigger early on Discover only because it said pre-approved after just checking! $1250 CL .. Yay..
I also asked NFCU about refiance, but I need to build the credit history more and ill re-apply. Thinking of getting their secured card for #3 and let that graduate.
Plan-Get the secured with NFCU and let things age up?? Been saving in a CD for house fund, hopeful for morgage 2-3 years away!

I am 17 mos post BK. Got the NFCU Secure card with 500 CL, now it has graduated into Cash Rewards visa $350/2500 CL. Discover CL now $0/2100. Stupid Credit one CL $0/500. (thinking about ditching them?) Traded in my Kia Sedona at one year for a 2019 Optima. Financed with KIA at 11% $570/mo. One year later got the NFCU Re-FI for 8% $360 ( This month,Yesss!!) I have 4k in savings.
My next move is to pay down my Auto loan since I Refi I can double up payments. Save, Age my accounts, and see what the market looks like in a few years.
$15k isn't really much debt to file BK over . . I would personally reconsider.
If you do file, don't reaffirm your car if you can help it. You can generally keep making payments and keep the car without doing so (depending on the lender.)
Personally, I would ditch a car that I owed $26k on, drive something cheaper, and handle this without BK.
It is to me, everyone has their own reasons and stories to why they do what they do. I haven't been paying on any debts for a while since I am being garnished all the time, and there is more medical bills than I listed, I dont have a better estimate then what I posted earlier

. I have thought about ditching the car, but I need it for my family, its new and will be dependable.
Thanks for your opinion, but I have thought it through, and its what is best for me and mine.
Just make sure your medical woes are over & that you have good insurance and $$ to make your copays for any care you might need going forward.
This is generally the reason people say not to file BK over a small amount of debt . . .if you get into *real* trouble you will be stuck until you can file again.
Good luck!
I agree with Steeler. 15K is not that much debt. You can contact lenders for payment agreements. I see you have some synchrony accounts. Before I filed I called about it, they put all my accounts on a 0% rate for 4 years or until it was fully paid. I'd really reconsider filing over 15K..
No one will want to refinance your car for less than 25% after your BK discharges, FYI...YMMV
I have seen alot of posts on here about re financing after BK for alot less than that.. I also dont plan on doing it right away, 6mos-1 year.
Thanks I will keep it updated.and yes we all have our own experiences and frustrations, and it looks like it’s more than my calculated 15k, more like 26k. It is now reported on CR as a Public record and EX took a -14 point hit, and TU -14, haven't heard from EQ yet.
Such sad scores from this last year of lates and high credit usage..but here is to new beginning's.
EQ 485 TU 510 EX 474
When they added my student and car loan my scores jumped about 40-60 across the board.. weird but was fun to see it go up!
