So after 5 years I was officially discharged from my Chapter 13 two days ago! Today I drove less than 1/8 of a mile from my house and warning lights came on and the engine started knocking. I had so hoped to have a little time without car payments...
On the plus side, my Experian Auto Fico 9 is 701. Anyone know where I can get a loan?
Virtually anywhere you want.
Do you have a relationship established with a national credit union or local credit union?
If so, that's where I'd start...call and ask their policy regarding post-BK customers, specifically CH13 (like yours) and mention it's a discharged CH13.
Best of luck!
First off, I would take it to a trusted mechanic and have him diagnose the problem. It may be better news than you think as far as problem and cost.
Go on Capital One's Auto Navigator site and see what you pre-qualify for as far as rate. It's a SP only to check.
Thanks. Two separate mechanics agreed complete engine rebuild was needed. Cap One wouldn't prequalify me but once I got to a dealership they ended up being the financing company.
@luvsandyshores when you use the prequalify tool on Cap1 with their Auto Navigator, it assumes the oldest model year and 110% LTV based on clean trade, etc. If their system won't approve you on those terms, it won't issue a preapproval.
Your terms you were granted approval on were likely more favorable for both you and Cap1 as the lender.
Best of luck in your rebuild and I hope that helped explain why you didn't get a prequalified offer.
