Re: Progress 4 months post DC

That sounds amazing. Did you do anything special to make that happen?

Re: Progress 4 months post DC

No I just been mindful with credit. I use my cards and pay them all off and just let one report a balance of about 20bucks. I keep track of reporting dates so I can make sure only one reports. Not going crazy with apps or anything. I get a small stack of credit card offers weekly. I'm gardening now for awhile as my nrewards unsecured last week after 4 statements so that was awesome.

next apps next summer early winter will be a second navy card and probably penfed as I established a relationship with them.

Re: Progress 4 months post DC

I think part of it depends on history before the bankruptcy. Just setup a good rebuild and the credit will rebound. I'm hoping to be 700s by next year. I steered clear  of the predatory cards with high annual fees. The only card I'll probably get rid of is my open sky once I get another unsecured card next year.

luckily @Tomew2000  you found this forum and the people here are great and have a lot of great information to help. Have you filed already or just in the process of starting it ?

Re: Progress 4 months post DC

I'm just in the research stage now.  Preparing   My income may very well stop soon, and at 67, getting another job will be near imposdible.  Setbacks over the last several years have depleted my savings and left me  swimming in debt. At any rate, I've not ever been late with a payment, and have paid hundreds of thousands through Amex over the years.  Situation sucks, but is what it is

Re: Progress 4 months post DC

Research is always good to do especially before a decision like bankruptcy. While at 67 may not be the easiest to get another job it's doable especially depending on the field you're in. Whether it's bankruptcy or you can get your debt paid off. I wish you the best of luck.

Re: Progress 4 months post DC

Did you have delinquent account and/ or charge offs after your filing?  I'd assume you did, just wondering how you overcame that

Re: Progress 4 months post DC

My biggest delinquent is my student loans which I'm fixing currently. I had some charge offs/collections but they all have left my credit report now, no idea why My biggest negative marks are my student loans, bankruptcy and some late payments I know accounts included usually stay on till fall off date but I got lucky somehow.
