Do you think that I would be able to do this with a discharged Ch13 BK?  I fulfilled my obligations and paid all of my debts, but some of the accounts that I paid during that bankruptcy are still on my credit report.  I thought those were supposed to fall off my CR when the BK was discharged.  Do I need to file disputes with the credit reporting agencies?  Thank you in advance for your help and advice.

No the IIB accounts don't fall off your report when you are discharged... they fall off at 7 years from filing date/DoFD along with the Ch 13 public record.

The CRAs will delete early... TU has been known to delete 6 months early.  EQ/EX up to 3 months early.

I filed April 2009... discharged May 2013.  The public record and IIB accounts are scheduled for removal April 2016.... so I am looking at early removal later this year 10/1 for TU and 1/1/16 for EQ/EX.

I would imagine you are in the same situation...  it's all about 7 years... not the date you are discharged.

Thank you!  Yeah I filed in June 2009, and it was discharged June 2014.  That's good to know about the early dismissal though.  I will try for early dismissal early next year, and see what happens.  Do you have any tips on how to get my credit scores higher like yours?  MY EQ is 588, TU is 621, and my EX is 632.  I want to try to buy a house in the next year or two, and I know that my scores need to be much higher.

Yeah you should start looking for early removal on 12/1 and 3/1/16 for TU and EQ/EX.

The first thing you should do is make sure your reports are correct... all accounts IIB with no other glaring issues.  Have you done that?  What new credit accounts do you have since discharge?

Here's a link to what I've done since discharge...

Nothing fancy... I just made sure my reports were correct and opened new accounts that I have maintained to get where I am at today.

Included in Bankruptcy.

If your scores are still that low after this much time has passed since discharge I'm thinking either something isn't right with your reports or you haven't opened any new credit accounts to rebuild with.

Or both...

Re: SUCCESS Getting Ch13 Dismissed BK removed before 10 yrs EQ

I have some unpaid medical on my CR.  I have opened a Capital One prepaid for $200, Credit One Bank for $400, First Premiere Bank for $700, Milestone for $300, Carecredit for $400, Lane Bryant for $600, and I have a Conn's account.  I also have accounts with Fingerhut, Ginnys, Stoneberry, and Seventh Avenue.  I always make more than the minimum payment.  I will take a closer look into my credit report so that I can dispute items that shouldn't be there.  In your experience is it better to send letters or emails to dispute incorrect items on the CR?  Sorry for all of the questions.  It's easier to talk to someone that's been through the same thing, rather than someone who just wants money from me to help me fix it.  Thank you again for all of your help!  I read your thread that you gave me, and it is very helpful.  I have only dreamed of holding cards with some of the people that you have.  Not because I want to charge them up, just because it means you have your stuff together enough to be approved with them.

Not a problem... and thanks.  Rebuilding hasn't been all that difficult, but it has required patience.

Looks like you have enough CC's to rebuild a solid profile... so you need to go over your reports with a fine toothed comb and look for anything that isn't reporting correctly.  All your accounts from the Ch 13 should report closed IIB with $0 balance.  If they don't, dispute it.  I always dispute online via the CRA website.

I would hold off on applying for any more credit right now.  You have enough new accounts and INQs.  You should lay low for 6 months at least.

Also, research the credit rebuilding forum on what to do about the unpaid medical.  I have no experience with that but many over there do.

If the dismissal was voluntary EX & TU will drop them at 7 years, it cannot have been dismissed for failing to follow court rules. EQ will most likely hold them the full 10 year period.

Is there any way aound this?  My BK was a voluntary dismissal in Aug 08'.  EX and TU removed it already, but EQ is playing hardball.  I know I filed, but didn't go through with it and worked things out on my own with the creditors.  It sucks.  It is preventing me from getting a few cards that I want and will not look good when I apply for a mortgage.

It must be generic....I received the same exact letter except for the BK court and courthouse number.
