I'm not an attorney, so I'd confirm with him/her first, but I personally think you should be fine going that route. I've even heard that normal purchases like groceries, etc have even been deemed acceptable on credit cards leading up to filing, but just like the other items, confirm first.
I know this is quite daunting, but just make conscious decisions and efforts going forward and it should all be fine.
You'll get through this. I know it's unchartered territory, but with this forum and your attorney, you'll be just fine.
Best of luck!

I spoke to an attorney and she advised me to stop paying my unsecured debt and to to continue paying mortgage, auto loan and credit union loan going forward. I would have to file with my husband so she advised us to wait until he's laid off so that we pass the means test for the previous six months income. We were struggling before and I was worried about making the payments when he gets laid off but we've both been diagnosed with Covid-19 and are quarantined through next week. This has put even more of a burden on us.
I have always paid my bills and never had a late payment and if we can't file until February/March, will this have any other negative consequences that I do not realize while waiting to file?
She did tell me if i got calls, to tell them we are filing chapter 7 and to give their name/phone number to contact.
Nervous and scared, not sure of what but the unknown. Is there anything else I should be aware of at the present time?
Thank you.
I hope you and your husband have a speedy recovery! My biggest advice is to listen to your attorney. Good luck with everything!
I had a recent discussion with an attorney. He had mentioned, offhandedly, that things like that were normal and ok. They're looking more for extravagant expenses, or ' burning cash' in the process
I have a question regarding the retaining of the attorney. I spoke to one I liked for a very extended consultation. 2 hours. He asked me for $250 for the extra hour. Does that mean I've retained him? Asking because I had some loan questions, and I don't want to be seen as being fraudulent
