Spouse Getting Closed BK

Question for my sister in law, that we can’t quite get an answer for….

Her husband filed Chapter 13, he has not went to 341 meeting yet. She is not included on his bankruptcy at all. She received notice through Credit Karma that some of her Synchrony accounts (Citgo, and Amazon) have been closed due to Bankruptcy. But she hasn’t filed, it doesn’t show on her credit, and he wasn’t authorized on his cards? So we’re kind of lost. 

I personally have been through the exact same scenario, but none of my accounts closed, and I have a ton of Synhrony accounts myself. 

Any insight?

Is your SIL an AU on his accounts? Once a petitioner files bankruptcy your creditors are notified . If she is an AU on these accounts she needs to be removed .

No, everything they have is separate. That’s why she’s wondering what is going on.

Best to speak to your lawyer and call Sync and ask what the heck is going on. They could say your under the same roof. And they are protecting their assests. If the one is filing . How could the other half pay the bills.
