Re: What makes one BK attorney better than the others and important questions to ask?

The key isn't the price but the quality. I paid $750 for my attorney and he went over everything in detail and the case went smooth. To be fair my attorney costed more like $450 after he purchased the products that I was selling at the time and his peers were looking to purchase nonetheless.

My case last 4 months and was discharged with no issues. If I email the office today they will still take time out of their day to answer my post bankruptcy questions as well.

Yeah, the car may be an issue as it has enough value to make it a delicious target to sell from the Trustee's perspective, speaking with an attorney is strongly advised.

From what I can find, the federal motor vehicle exemption is $4000. Looking at my state, it say - An automobile necessary for the debtor's personal transportation or to secure or maintain employment, not exceeding $7,500 of wholesale resale value.

I noticed that it says "wholesale resale value".  I don't know if that applies to federal but either way, that is about $5500.

I called about 6 BK Attys.

One out of the 6 I've called did not talk to me or treat me like I was a criminal. That was the one for me! (NH Area if anyone lives here and needs a suggestion.)

I have a great recommendation for an bankruptcy attorney in the Manchester area if that is convenient for you.  If so, PM me.

I categorically refuse to do AZEO!

Get a specialist, someone who only does bankruptcy.     It will cost you a little more but it will be worth it.   I got mine after calling 5 other attorneys, and meeting 2 in person.   They only do bankruptcy and actually serves as a trustee as well.  He was head of the bankruptcy subcommittee for the state bar association.   When we walked into the 341 meeting he knew all of the other trustees (and they knew him).   It was a bit more expensive, but the peace of mind was worth it.
