chapter 13 discharge debt reporting

If, in a chapter 13 plan, particular debts were included, but they never technically received any money from the courts, can they still report the debt as being charged off on a credit report?

unfortunately, yes, they can and many creditors do although most of them just let it go. the reason I was given by the experts is that they are legitimate and therefore legally they can report it and if it has been discharged then it will show up as charged off or discharged throguh chapter 7/13 and so on.

Actually, these debts should be reported as IIB with $0 balance. If they are not being reported this way, dispute them to have them updated to say so. It may take a while to correct this as it may come back reporting more negative info, but the only way to get it to report accurately is to dispute it.
