So, like many others before me, I had applied for what I thought was the Sam's Club Biz MC, only to receive a Sam's store card. This was several months ago. Last week I went back to apply for the MC and received this on-screen message after submission:
I called in and was told by the rep that they just needed to verify the business information, but that it looks like it's otherwise going to be approved, and I should be getting a letter in the next few days. Today I received this in the mail:
I've read numerous accounts of applicants not ever having to provide their SSN, which I did not have to do for the in-store app. Just wondering if this is typical for the MC app.
@TeenWolf You always have to supply your social whether it's PG or No PG with any big banking establishment.
Chase, AMX, Citi, BofA, US Bank, Synchrony, Citizens, Wells Fargo etc. by law have to verify you by your social.
Doesn't mean all will be pulling your personal credit, but i would protect yourself if You are applying without a PG.

Thanks, @bizcredit11. But does that mean that everyone who applied without a PG received the same letter? I used my company's EIN alone when applying, as other non-PGers have done, but have not read about anyone receiving a letter.
I'll be reporting back with an update once I call in, either way.

Not necessarily.
Their internal algorithms were likely triggered by a data mismatch (or some other factors) which prompted the extra verification steps. It's simply part of internal compliance policy with verifying who you are. As the above poster stated, this doesn't mean that supplying the additional information and/or SS# will be used to PG, but more along the lines of staying compliant with KYC guidelines and the Patriot Act.
***Just a quick update***
I called the number on the letter today and was assured that the info I provided was solely for verification purposes. Afterwards, I was put on hold for a few minutes before being told that I was approved for $12K. No latent HP. 😎👍

Admittedly, I was curious if that would be the outcome! Congratulations @TeenWolf
That's awesome!! Great job!!
Congratulations @TeenWolf for your Sams Club MC App Approval
