AMEX CLI and application for different card same day?

Hello all first time poster here, I have been a lurker for a while now.

Today I asked for a cli on my Amex cash magnet card for 3x my limit and was approved. I have been looking at getting a travel card and see I am pre approved for the Amex Gold, is it allowed for me to apply the same day for a new card as I got a CLI on an existing card?

Sorry if these are silly questions, but also if acceptable to apply will this be a softpull on my credit since I am already an Amex member?

I think you should be fine on the application after a CLI (others may correct me if I'm wrong), but the HP vs SP can vary. *Usually* it will be a SP, but there have been reports of sometimes an HP being done.

I just recently applied and received a 3x CLI. I then applied and received a new card a week later. Both were SPs.

Correct.  I can confirm that they can and do sometimes hard pull even if you're an existing cardholder with a clean profile.
