Hello,
new here, i have been rebuilding my credit and looking at getting my first amex card.
curent fico is at 676 for experian. however i have alot of inquires 9 within the last year, however 4-5 do reach the 12 month mark next month towards the end. i was pre qualified for the Delta Gold and the Hiltion cards. i do not have any collections on my experian file, however i do have a 8 year old BK. what are my chances of getting approved this month? is Amex inquiry sensitive or do you think since i was prequalifed i good to go.
thanks
Welcome!
I would think Amex would be a lot more sensitive to the bk than the inq's, especially if they were included. The only way to know for sure how Amex feels about your profile is to pull the trigger. Good luck with whatever you do!

Your bankruptcy is pretty well aged, and I personally don't foresee that to be an issue. Your scores appear to be fine for at least the cobranded cards (possibly core).
Have you opened up a lot of new cards in the past 6-12 months?
The only way to know for sure though is to apply.
What were the inquiries? Do those correspond with open accounts? Or were they grouped together for something like a car loan?

Did you include Amex in your BK? If Amex was included in your BK then you will be on their blacklist for up to 10 years or more depending for how much you burned them for. If you didn't include Amex in your BK, as long as your BK is 5 years old or older your fine with Amex to apply.
Hi,
You may want to wait. I was prequalified for the Everyday.
The way I understand it Amex has several tiers for cards.
The strictist are there own CC,
the other tier is charge cards and brand cards like the hilton and delta.
I was prequalified for the Everyday, I believe my score for Ex was 687 at the time.
I applied for the everyday and it went to a 7-10 day pending. wanted to get into Amex.
Since they already had done the HP.
I applied for the Green charge card. imediately approved.
8 days later I called Amex and subsequently deneid for the everyday card. Interesting enough they had done a soft pull and my score had gone up to 704. But they said "time with Amex too short" and "balance on one card was too high" --Not an amex card
Amex does SP on all amex customers on arround the 16th or 18th of every month. I believe they had used that score for the everyday.
I got tired of waiting for one account to post to experian a 4k payoff and pulled the trigger one day early. Still didn't make it even with pre-approval.
Now i will garden for 60 to 90 days, pay off my green card balance every week and try again.
I suck as a gardner. ![]()
^^ thanks for the DPs
Thanks, I opened 5 accounts since April. In the last 6 months only 2 with the most recent one in December
5 are with open aacounts, the rest are for denials
Ok. If you have 9 inquiries and 5 open accounts since April, I'd wait for those to age off.
