Almost ready to app for Chase cards!!

Here is my situation...

We closed on our home in March of 2018.  Shortly after closing, I went on an application spree!  I am currently 6/24, but by April 11th I will be 2/24!

2 of the 6/24 are Chase Sapphire Preferred (opened 6/14/18) and the Chase Freedom Unlimited (opened 3/31/18).  What I would like to do is change somehow from Chase Sapphire Preferred to the Chase Sapphire Reserve.  Additionally, I want to add the Chase Freedom.

My questions are:

1)  What should I do to change from CSP to CSR?

2)  Is there any way to get a SUB for the CSR?

3)  Can I app now even though I'm at 6/24.  If denied, I can call in for Recon!?

4)  I don't wanno be above 5/24 again without getting all my Chase Cards.  So, What should be my next steps from here?

Any other information and advice is greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Peace!

1. You need the CL to be 10k or higher to PC to the CSR

2. No. Even if you closed your current CSP you are not eligible for a SUB for 48 months after you got the SUB for the CSP.

3. You can try but expect a denial and 5/24 denial reason is not normally able to be reconned

4. If you don't want to be above 5/24 going forward only app for 1 card every 6 months or whatever other methods you find that keeps you from applying

Re: Almost ready to app for Chase cards!!

There is no reconning or overturning of 5/24. Once you are denied for that reason, unless there is a mistake involved, the decision is final.  The good news is you are really close to being below 5/24 anyway.

To stay below 5/24 you simply have to limit card applications to 1 every 6 months at the most (which would put you at 4/24). Doing so on an ongoing basis will keep you below 5/24 at all times.

You can upgrade to the CSR, but you would forego the bonus. The only way to get the bonus is a new application. Since the Freedom's bonus is comparatively small, I would downgrade the Sapphire Preferred to the regular Freedom, and then add the Sapphire Reserve.

kdm,

Unfortunately, even I downgrade the CSP to Freedom and then app for the CSR, I will still lose out on any SUB for CSR because I received a SUB just shy of 2 years ago for the CSP.

Correct?

Thanks!

Re: Almost ready to app for Chase cards!!

You can get some Chase Inks for SUBs to make up for the Reserve fee, and they won't affect 5/24.

Re: Almost ready to app for Chase cards!!

I think, for now, I'll simply keep the CSP, app for the Freedom, and rock on like that for a little while.  Not doing any real travel until, hopefully, 2021.  We shall see!

Which other cards from Chase are awesome cards to have?

Thanks.

Peace!
