Amex App: "Special Team Will Call You"

I applied for the Amex BCE on 6/14, with no response yet. The online status site has said "In Progress/Please check back on this site in 24 hours" since 6/16 or so.

I've tried calling twice, and both reps I reached said a "special team" needs to verify the application, and they would be calling me. I first called on 6/16 and they said I'd receive a call within 3-4 days. Still nothing.

Is there a backdoor number for this "special" verification team? Don't see anything in the sticky.

Hmm This is the first I personally heard of this "special team." I don't remember seeing someone waiting as long as your are after they said 24 hours. This is different.

Without a doubt it's the fraud dept for verification. They seem very slow getting to applicants as of late.

Yeah, phone customer service said it was the fraud department.

Now it's been 9 days, and still nothing.

Just to close the loop on this... I finally received the call yesterday, a full 2 weeks after applying.

It was, indeed, a fraud verification issue. Approved for $5k. Kind of low considering my other limits, but I already had $29k in total CL from Amex.
