I applied and received an AMEX Everyday Preferred Card in June 2022. I waited 5 days and applied and was approved for AMEX Gold card (a charge card). I learned about this AMEX datapoint from this forum.
So when I waited for two billing statements to appear on my AMEX Everyday Preferred card to apply for the 3x CLI on the 61st day, I was declined. The reason AMEX gave me was that my AMEX Preferred Card was just recently opened.
I guess waiting 61 day datapoint to ask for a CLI doesn't apply to everyone.
That stinks. Sorry to read that this CLI didn't work out. In my time with Amex, I've been denied for CLIs, approved for CLIs, and pursued by reviews over CLIs. It seems that Amex looks at a variety of factors when considering that 3X, that the timeframe alone isn't a weighed factor. I've been told that income, your credit history, your debt-to-income ratio, and the not-immediately-updated credit file they have on you come into play as well.
Here's to hoping you find success soon!

That's correct.
I got my Delta Gold in May and there was a post last week from a guy who got a 61 day CLI and he opened his account a week or so after I opened mine.
I went to the same link and was told my account is too new.
LOL
Same reason for me at 61 days, but i just checked now at 94 days and the rep told me i am able to do the credit limit increase.

You are right...and it goes to other lenders too...for example- people say that if you could ask for CLI with WF every 4 months, but its not the case with everyone...I dont get increases on two of my cards with WF every 4 months, rather 7 months. US bank gave me CLI this time after 10 months later but a good one though $9k...otherwise I used to get cli every 6-7 months before but not last two times....
While the DP given by different members have been pretty solid when it comes to CLI's it seems to vary at times.
I too had no luck with the 61 day CLI with Amex and haven't had luck with Disco or Cap1 either.
As I am just getting in the mix of a decent credit profile I am in no rush but the Amex 1k line and Cap1 is killing me.
Chase has me at 5k, Disco 8k, Truist 4.5k, Citi 5.2k, Cap1Savor1 2k, Amex BCP 1k, Amex Gold and Plat NPSL, then we have my builder cards Cap1QS1 at 600.00 and Cap1SecuredPlat at 200 (these are bucketed but did their job).
Patience is the game to play I guess
It is not always guaranteed at 61 days. If the only reason given was that the account is too new, I would give it another 30 days and try again. However, using the available credit and paying it off a few times over the next month or two would probbaly help your cause.
Tomorrow is the big day, my scores should be up to date. Im really hoping for 3X but i would gratefully take 2X.
Ok. Thanks

yes definitely not a guarantee.
I didn't get the 3X and in fact, all my CLI requests were denied ANY till I hit the 2-year mark with the card and also put a ton of spend on it.
